Band Position: guitars, steel guitar, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, toy piano, acting out Birthdate: April 12, 1962 Story: grew up in the projects of santa monica. his father ran out on his family when art was 4 years old. art's brother died of a drug overdose at the age of 12. art heard the one of the policemen say "just another overdose" which are now some of the lyrics to "heroin girl." art was started on drugs at the age of 8. around the neighnorhood, he was a big dealer. a few years later, he almost died of a drug overdose himself. that was the point where he knew it had to end. he kicked the drugs and threw himself into music he was in one band before everclear: colorfinger a san fran based country-punk band. they released some LP's on art's shindig label and that label failed. art then moved to portland oregon in 1992. then art put an ad in the personal ads in the newspaper for a drummer and bassist. that's when he met present bassist craig montoya and former drummer scott cuthbert. this was the first round of everclear. they made a few ep's and then that became the "world of noise" album in 1993. they then kicked scott cuthbert out and found greg eklund. everclear was signed to capitol records. they released "sparkle and fade" in 1995 and "SMFTAG" in 1997. Art now has a daughter Annabelle who is 5 years old.
