I, myself, have four tattoos and one body piercing (see the links below..), the latest tattoo was completed on around August of '99, which, unfortunately, I don't have a picture of yet, but will soon.
The Dragon was my first tattoo, received as a birthday gift from myself when I turned 20...it's located on my upper left arm, between the bicep and shoulder.....it was done at Custom Tattoo's, Arlington, TX, Owner:Don Eaker, President of the Nat'l Tattoo Assoc., and the artist...Papasan, aka Frank Birch, in my opinion, one of the best in the business. When I went back for my second tattoo, I met Steve Blakely - and he's taken care of me very well since then - to my chagrin, Papasan had retired. I hear tales that he still does some work, and if you grab an old "TATTOO" magazine, you're guaranteed to see LOTS of his work.....
The Celtic Braid around my ankle was my second tattoo and came about of my own design, I created it on the computer and took it too my new Artist - Steve Blakely, A Different Drummer Tattoo Studio, Witchita Falls, TX on spring break at his shoppe down in Arlington - Cutsom Tattoo's - Owner:Don Eaker, President of the Nat'l Tattoo Assoc. He did a great job, it is a full wrap around my ankle and was really fun getting since it was my original design..
The Celtic Icon was also done by Steve Blakely,seen here working. This design was found in a psych book on Death and Dying, although we discovered a very olde pallette piece from the 40's that resembles it except it's less tribal looking.....this piece was done as a bonding tattoo...if you'll look closely, reading from the left/top (with your head leaned to the right, that is...) side of the picture and from top down, it reads "DEATH" and reading from the left side and from bottom up, it reads "LIFE"..the basic interpretation being "through life til death....."
One of my most recent tattoos, Tao & Te, was done at Sacred Art, Corvallis, OR by Ashley in the summer of'99). The Tao symbolizes The Way, and the Te symbolizes Virtue, or Virtue in Action. It holds deep symbolic meaning to me and if you want to find why, investigate by reading "The Tao of Pooh" and "The Te of Piglet", you may find out...
The Navel Ring is a 10 guage ring, handmade by a jeweler for me, made of 14 karat gold, with a Jade bead to close the circle....I got this done between my second and third tattoos and it was also done by Steve Blakely...you think this guy would get tired of seeing me bleeding and in pain, but then again, he is an Artist....
And finally, The Ear-rings...the first one I did in '85 I believe, it had been pierced before, but I had let it close, that year I kept it for good...The second one I did in front of a dormitory mirror, half blazed on Vodka, in the middle of the night in 1988 sometime....Anyhow, later I switched them from narrow rings to two 14 guage Anodized Black body rings....they look so much more suave! And please, kids, DO NOT PIERCE YOURSELF LIKE I DID UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! (That good enough for a parental warning?)
