In what could be another weighty chapter in
the demise of what was once the foremost
rap label in the country, Snoop Doggy Dogg
told his hometown newspaper that he wants
to leave Death Row Records because he
fears for his life.

In an exclusive interview with the "Long
Beach Press-Telegram," Snoop said, "I
definitely feel my life is in danger if I stay in
Death Row Records. That's part of the
reason why I'm leaving."

Snoop also told the "Press-Telegram"'s
Mauricio Minotta that he is planning to leave
the label this year "Because there's nothing
over there. Suge Knight is in jail, the
president; Dr. Dre left and Tupac (Shakur) is
dead. It's telling me that I'm either going to be
dead or in jail or I'm going to be nothing."

The rapper who, along with Dr. Dre and
Tupac Shakur, helped to build Death Row
into a formidable force in the music industry,
also cited the label's business practices as
part of the reason why he wants to leave the
label.

"They don't know how to run business. That's
why their business is gone. And I'm no longer
a part of them."

Snoop also says that Death Row mishandled
a number of his projects, including the track
that he worked on with Tom Morello of Rage
Against The Machine and a proposed project
with Warren G.

Snoop goes on to tell the paper that his next
album, "Corleone's Revenge," will be
released on his own Dogg House Records.
When contacted about Snoop's comments,
Death Row would neither confirm nor deny
any details of Snoop's contract and could not
confirm his remarks in the interview.

So i guess now besides a few minor players
Death Row is no more.....

Snoop has now signed with Master P's "No Limit"
Label, No limit records is known for it's
"No Limit Soldier" attitude with such names as
Mystical, Eightball, and Silk da Shocker Snoop
should blend in nicely with this label. Snoops
next album "The Game is To Be Sold, Not to Be
Told" will appear on his new label on Aug. 4.
