The following scholarship recommendation was made in April 1998 by Clare Reidy. Clare directed me in four CCC productions: "Hamlet", "Seven Brides For Dracula", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Graceland". She also choreographed me in Music Guild's "Down in the Valley", and co-starred with me in the RDAC's "Romeo and Juliet" ballet, and Elmira City School District's "Oliver!".
This letter is to recommend David Alan Scott Jr. to your theater program and as a candidate for any scholarships available in his area of concentration.
I have known and worked with David during his tenure as a student here at Corning Community College. He is one of the most versatile and talented students I know, having excellent abilities as a writer, an actor, a singer, a photographer and a scholar. David has appeared in several plays I have directed and has demonstrated the ability to make a role his own.
As Rosencrantz in our college production of HAMLET, David more than held his own with our professional guest artist, making a memorable and conniving character.
He also appeared as Dracula in a musical spoof of the work and showed a great ability with accent. His rendition of "The Transylvania Trance" was the hit of the show.
David has also worked as student photographer and videographer of many of our production and his camera work is of excellent quality.
David has also worked extensively with theater groups in the region. He has always earned top rating from other directors as a hard working and reliable actor. His recent appearance in "Noises Off" got rave reviews.
David's academic record speaks for itself. He has achieved Dean's List standing and is a member of the college honor society. He has been president of the theater group here on campus and has participated widely in college activities such as the student newspaper and the Student Government.
I'm sure David will work dilligently and successfully at his transfer college. I recommend him without reservation to your consideration.
Sincerely,
Clare A. Reidy

Re: David Alan Scott, Jr.
To whom it may concern,
I have known David for the past two years and find him to be a highly reliable and talented young man. Having appeared with him in several dramatic productions and directed him in several radio re-creations, I have observed him to be prompt in learning his lines, helpful to other actors, creative and respectful in his suggestions, and enthusiastic in performances. I would unequivocally recommend him for admission to any theatrical program.
Sincerely,
Gary A. Yoggy

This letter was written later in May 1998 by Kathy Gill, who directed me in ELT's "Noises Off" and later Elmira City School District's "Oliver!". She also co-starred with me in CCC/Rotary's "Bells are Ringing", CVT's "Ten Little Indians", ELT's "A Visit to the Golden Age of Radio", and RDAC's "Romeo and Juliet".
Recommendation for David Alan Scott Jr.
I have been associated with David Alan Scott Jr. for the past three years. He is a multi-talented individual who gets involved in all aspects of theatrical production.
My first acquaintance with David was in 1996 in "Bells are Ringing". He played a number of characters which showed his creative versatility.
David also acted in the Corning Vintage Players with me in "Ten Little Indians". David is able to assume a formal British accent or any other accent you ask him to do. He creates his characters inside and out, with varying physical characteristics--bodily and facially.
I have also seen David in a number of Corning Community College plays, including two Shakespearian productions, all of which were well portrayed.
He has also danced in a number of Rainbow Dance Arts Ballet Company productions, and did a sword fight for "Romeo and Juliet", a recent RDAC ballet.
I directed David in "Noises Off", a three-act British farce. His portrayal of Freddie was excellent. "Noises Off" is a difficult production for the actors as each cast member plays two characters. Also, each actor needs a good sense of comedic timing for the "Monty Python" humor in the 2nd act. For "Noises Off", he did cast photos, wrote our press releases, and designed our marquis.
It has been a pleasure to have known David, and I wish him well in the future.
Sincerely,
Kathy Gill
