Please forgive me for employing the rather bad writing style characteristic of thirteen-year-olds when they are discussing themselves. There just seems to be no other way to handle the situation. My name is Carrie Leigh Floyd. I am twenty-four years old, and I currently live in Dallas, Texas. I graduated from Austin College and the University of North Texas with degrees in Psychology and History. However, something is wrong with me. I am not ready to be an adult. Last year I was a junior high History teacher in Bedford, and though I was making lots of money, working regular hours, had benefits, and was not considered a loser by any former high school classmates, I was wholly unhappy. So I've quit my job. |

I'm currently working as a waitress at Chili's, which I find mostly enjoyable, and where I can make a fair amount of money. Also I don't have to wake up early, and don't have homework when I get off. And they give you free food. I suppose this seems odd, but I am trying not to worry about it. I feel better, and that's what's important. In September I am moving to Austin, where I plan to wait tables, write a lot, and go to bars to see bands. Hopefully next year I won't miss the application deadline and will be able to go to UT to study film. Sometime in the future I would like to be able to earn a living writing and directing independent films.
As a general rule, I tend to characterize myself in terms of the music, books, movies, etc., that I like. You can look elsewhere on this website to find out about that stuff. Also I recently started an online journal, which chronicles the mundane events of my life. (I think the journal is a bit wordy, but it's mostly for my benefit anyway.)
I am going to try to put some pictures up on the site soon. I recently discovered that my good friend Jen has a scanner and Dobie Photo Shop, so maybe that will pan out. |
