Elitist Yeah, I tend to prefer smart people to dumb ones. So sue me.
Insipid This is such a useful word, as it describes a great number of the people who populate my life. (See "elitist.")
Maniacal Come on, who doesn't love this word?
Nefarious I'm not sure what this means, and am far too lazy to look it up, but it sounds kind of seamy and evil, like "She distrusted him because she had heard of his nefarious affairs in the Berlin underworld."
Pedantic The great thing about this is that when one uses "pedantic" in one's speech, one becomes pedantic. Neat, huh?
Quite I use this word quite often, as I imagine that it makes me sound either A. smarter, or B. faintly Britiish. Either way, it's favorable.
Rad Reminds me of cute skater-punks from junior high.
Recalcitrant Means rebellious, but it always makes me think of milk.
Superfluous Also adds to one's pedanticity. Thalassocracy This word refers to a hegemony on the seas, such as, "The English Navy enjoyed a thalassocracy during the Elizabethan period." In my life it's mostly just a kick-ass Frank Black song. |
