Duran Duran Plane Trip 2000

18/12 - Cardiff, Wales

I once more made the trek to Bristol, this time I had company on the bus, though, as Sandy had been in London for the Wembley show. It was more enjoyable to have her company. We made it just in time to meet her niece, Zoe (a lovely 18 year old college student that she had since converted to Duranism, whom I had chatted with briefly on one of her previous visits to her aunt's home for another concert, Blondie, I think), that came from Devon, which was down the road from Exeter (former home of Ian Idol). After shopping, we went to the flat to kick back a little bit before getting ready. Then over to the house of a friend of hers that was also going to wait for another friend of hers that graciously drove all of us to Cardiff. It was crowded, though fun. It wasn't as long a drive as Birmingham, though, since we had to wait on others, we didn't get there early enough to do any sightseeing. There were quite a few signs in Welsh, that none of us knew how to read. Luckily there were English ones as well. It took us several go rounds to find a parking spot. Once we got inside the venue it was so darn crowded and tough to get drinks and find our seats. This time my 'seat' was once again a chair in a row in front of stadium seats. I was sitting next to a couple that smoked and the guy smelled a bit like b.o., though they were very nice people--told me they came all the way from Greece to see them and asked me if I knew what the encores would be as they had to leave before they were all finished. I still had a good view of Joe despite being almost as far away as I was in Bournemouth, again on Nick's side.

Once again we had to suffer thru the VegaStones and a long wait before Teddy Bear came over the speakers.

Warren was wearing the usual, Nick wore the black suit (faux tuxedo--silver stripe), Simon wore white pants with the lt. blue shirt with the sleeves removed, Wes wore a black short-sleeved shirt and black leather pants, Joe had on a black short-sleeved top with the pants I mentioned previously. This was my last chance to get any merchandise. I just had to get the Chrimbo (Christmas) baubles. No money for anything else, darn it! Once again the ladies I were with had to work the next day so we left post haste. Before we left Cardiff we had a fox run out in front of us on the road, scared us all, though the fox made it safely past. Once again Sandy allowed me to stay over, only she graciously gave up her bed this time. I had the best night's sleep I had since getting there. This was my last show because I knew I wouldn't be able to go to Nottingham the next night and make it back in time to catch my plane back home. I ended up going back to London and trying to find a B&B that was close. That's awhole 'nother adventure, and a bit boring, so I'll leave off.
