Like It Or Not Spine took out a few of their major label frustrations with this independently produced and released CD (sold through their web site Oct. 31-Dec. 31, 2000). A self-proclaimed Christmas gift to their fans (so people don't have to pay so much for the ANZAS from dealers and in internet auctions) the band included songs from their ANZA CDs, a couple live tracks (including a drum solo!) and four new songs (which were put on a demo to shop for a new deal after their Hollywood Records contract was finished, much to the delight of the band [Jimmy: "Great people, flawed organization."]). The interior of the CD features fan photos, including one of Jason by yours truly taken in Madison July 2000. Catalog number: CSP 70074-2. Tracks: Like It Or Not, Drift Away, Overlooked, Know Me At All, Palm O' Mine, Much Better, Million Years, Ouch, Trippin' Laces (live), Moby Stick (live), Jumpship (live), As I Am, Hold My Hand, My World, Forget, Think About Me, She's Coming Home, On The Ground, 61, Surprise.
Singles
Sullivan
Hollywood Records, PRCD-10716-2, 1997. This song just about made me cry the first time I heard it, and I'd never heard of these guys before. They were just the opening band at a show I was at.
Wallflower
Hollywood Records, PRCD-10821-2, 1998. Great song. Great band.
Attention Please This single peaked in the 30s on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. Pretty good for a band that's not being played on all the stations that call into SoundScan to compile the chart. That means that the stations that do have it were cranking the hell out of it, which is as it should be.

Nothing To Prove American promo single Hollywood Records PRCD-11234-2. It's the "No Strings Attached Version," the "Album Version" and "No Strings Attached Research Snippet," which is basically 12 seconds of power chord riffing. :) This single went to #23 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart and stayed aloft for eight weeks. It went to #9 in Radio And Records' Active Rock Chart. Check out what Billboard had to say about the guys, as written on the back of the single: "Shiny, singable rock hooks that set it apart from the regurgitated heavy metal that's been making a comeback. Akin to Live and Pearl Jam." :) Well, we already knew that, didn't we? :)
This song also had a promo cassette single.
Nothing To Prove, European version Hollywood Records/Edel Records, Germany, 0106525HWR, 1999. Also on this CD are Dirty Work and Please Let Me Go.
Varsity Blues European single
Spine's song was included on a CD single in Europe, apparently. If the person who won this eBay auction contact me with the catalog number I'd appreciate it very much! Thank you!
Other Appearances
An American Werewolf In Paris (soundtrack)
Hollywood Records HR62131-4, 1997. Spine plays the "industrial" version of "Turned Blue" on here. It's different than the Attention Please version of the song.
Varsity Blues (soundtrack)
Hollywood Records HR62177-4, 1998. The song Spine has on here is "Varsity Blue." Makes sense, huh? They don't play this one much in concert, so to hear it, you've got to get this.
Spine were also featured on the first Edgefest CD, put out by Tulsa's Z104.5 station. (Not sure if there's more than two volumes.) Spine's track is a radio-station-interview acoustic version of Sullivan and apparently has some minor lyric differences. Thank you to Ryan in Tulsa for the info. Any information on the catalog number, pressing quantity, or artwork would be appreciated as well.
