AJ sat shocked at the table. Half of him expected her to come back. But the little he already knew of Grayson led him to believe she was stubborn. He also knew she was right.
"Wait up Grace!" AJ exclaimed, as he finally ran after her outside. Her clunky boots wouldn't allow her to run fast, so he easily caught up with her.
"I'm sorry Grace," AJ said. "I must be touchy about much complete lack of a love life. I do miss people. I missed you when you left."
Grayson didn't say anything. She just stared ahead stonily.
"And I did ask you out," AJ said. "You are so beautiful and funny, how could I help but ask you out?"
"Stop AJ," Grayson said. "The fact that you came after me was enough."
"Is that what I have to do to win your heart?" AJ asked. "Come after you?"
"Saying nice things to me doesn't hurt," Grayson said, smiling.
They kissed in the middle of the street. "Why do I have the feeling this is the first of many make-ups we're gonna have?"
"Cuz we're both hard-headed, stubborn people, who like a good fight," Grayson said.
"You're probably right," AJ said. "But I'll promise to always go after you, if you promise to always go after me."
"Alright, you got a deal Mr. McLean," Grayson said.
AJ took her home and said, "I'm gonna break an age old custom and call you tomorrow."
"Age old custom?" Grayson asked.
"You know, waiting at least two days to call the girl back," AJ said.
"I'm glad you're breaking that tradition," Grayson said.
"Me too," AJ murmured.
