Chapter One: Seats and Passes

"I don't believe you are dragging me to a Backstreet Boys concert!" Vanessa Anderson cried to her best friend, Catherine McCoy. "We are 24 years old for God's sake!"

"They kept me awake during last year's finals cram sessions," Catherine said, pulling her long blond hair into a ponytail. "I feel like I owe them props."

"Why couldn't you drag your fiancee with you?" Vanessa asked.

"Oh, yeah, bring Rob to a Backstreet Boys concert. Now that's a picture!" Catherine exclaimed. "Hey! Stop complaining. Greg got us 3rd row tickets and backstage passes!"

"Greg is soooo generous," Vanessa said, sarcastically.

"You'll have fun," Catherine predicted, as they entered the arena. "I always forget how big this place is."

"Yeah, no venue bigger in New York," Vanessa mumbled. She watched all the teenboppers coming in around her and felt embarassed. "Do you have any idea how old I feel?"

"Kevin Richardson is 27, three whole years older that us!" Catherine exclaimed.

"But Nick Carter is 18," Vanessa said. "Five years younger!"

Vanessa and Catherine took their seats. A burly security guard walked up to them. "You Greg McCoy's friends?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm his sister," Catherine explained.

"Okay, my name's Jeff," he said. "Go to the left of the stage after the concert, and I'll take you back to meet the guys."

"Thanks!" Catherine said, just as five guys walked on stage.
