Freikorps and friends

1-For those few who aren't already familiar with the band, could you give us some background info?

The band Freikorps was formed back in 1988 in Lübeck,Germany. The current line- up is: Kai,28-guitar and vocals/ Klapmeier,30-bass and Piwi,24-drums. Freikorps brought out 4 CDs on Rock o Rama and one Split CD with the swedish Band STORM on Svea Musik.

2- Had you ever played in a previous band yourself?

Oh, I played in a lot of bands. We started as young punks and became Skinheads when we started to work and get families. We all played in various Punk and Oi Bands.

3- Why did you choose the name Freikorps?

The name always shows strength. It is very historic and by the way very german.

4- My favorite track is Erik Banks. Tell us about the state of mind you were in when you wrote this.

A lot of our kin died till now and it doesn't matter if it is Erik, Joe or Ian. Every dead soldier died for our cause and we have to honor these men. This song is a salute.

5- How many shows has Freikorps played in Germany and abroad? Any memories good or bad that stand out?

We played between 40 and 50 shows in Germany, Europe and the USA. We played with bands like No Remorse, Aggravated Assault, Pluton Svea, Max Resist, Bully Boys, Svastika, Endstufe, Stahlgewitter, Bootsbrothers, Mistreat,P igkiller, Landser, Saccarra,Blue Eyed Devils and many more. Every show was very important.

They owe the world

c-Christianism

not our way

d-Combat 18

We don't know much about them, how they work etc., but they made a lot of trouble with good friends of us in the UK.

e-Paul Burnley

A very good musician and very dedicated to the cause.

7- What about talk your songs?

We sing about the way of life, our country, our kin and breaking some bones.

8-Tell us something about the next album from the band, Eisernes Creus.

It will come out in a few weeks and it contains 14 songs and a very good booklet. It is dedicated to the German Wehrmacht and the soldiers who died in the second world war.

9- How is the Skinhead scene in Germany?

It is very big, we have a lot of zines and bands, but there is still a lot of fighting between the different sections. That is not good and we hate such fights within the scene.

10- Do you know something of Argentina? (Skinhead scene or only as country)

You will laugh, but my uncle lived there for five years, but that is long ago. We know nothing about the scene there, we just saw some photos in a fanzine from the US.

11- How can people get in touch with the band?

We don't have an address right now, just visit our webpage:
