Dynamo open air 1999.

In may this year DOA 1999 was a fact.
Agata, Bas and me went to Dynamo.
Dynamo is the biggest metal festival in Europe.
Three day's of smoking, drinking and headbanging.

Friday.

When we arrived at the train-station in Eindhoven there were metal fans all over the station. After waiting one hour in the bus queue we got on the bus to the DOA site.
When arriving at the site There was another queue 1,5 hour later we then arrived on the camping site. And what a site was. 35.000 tens on a dumpsite and metal heads as far as the eye can see. We went to find a nice spot for our tent and then took off to check out the festival site.

4 o clock and OUT was playing at the gallery. At first it al seemed a bit strange.
This was the first time we were at DOA. The relax atmosphere was somewhat of a suprise. after OUt it was time for a few joints and a couple of beers. 17.50 De Heideroosjes. Being a Limbo just like the heideroosjes I had to go throw myself into the pit and do some serious crowd surfing. Next up was Hard-ons. and this to us mend checking out the rest of the skatefest. 19.50 Madball. Hardcore all over and again I checkt out the pit. after Madball. we had enough of the skatfest for one day 20.50 Static-X was ripping up the gallery and 22.00 we went to find our tents.
At 23.50 Lacuna coil kicked of  in the main tent and the dark symphonies stage was born. 00.55 Bas and me went to see Anathema. Anathema was nice but Therion was better. Therion performed with a chamber orchestra and three great singers.
For us Therion was definitely one of the highlights of this festival. 03.00 time to go to "bed"

Saturday.

Saturday the mainstage opened at 12.00. 16.00 It was time for us to go and see Nashville pussy. These chicks kicked ass. 18.20 Our Dutch trip rockers of the gathering take possession of the main stage. Our expectations were high. The performance was not what we had expected. After 30 minutes of standing on our toes it was time to sit down grab a couple of beers and joint. When the gathering was finished we wend to the restaurants and garbed something to eat. The prises we reasonable. 20.50 Cradle of filth was giving a show and Agata wanted to see it. After 10 minutes of fire works and seeing nothing. we had enough. Next stop was Manowar Saturday's   headliner. Man do they suck. Guardians of metal the call themselves bullshit fuckoffs of metal is the better description. The hardest band on earth they were perhaps. In my opinion this was the biggest downer of the festival. Time to get something to eat. Next stop the factory. 24.00 Atari Teenage Riot. In my life I have seen a lot of gabber party's but Atari teenage riot makes all of them look like childsplay. On major overkill. After a long day you are tired. But when we left the factory at 2.30 we were fucking awake.

Sunday.

Sunday 13.00 time to hit the metal marked. Lot's of stuff is for sale there. CD's, shirts and lot's of other stuff.
16.35 Biohazard kicks ass on the mainstage promoting the new album (New world disorder). Hardcore fills the air and my life seems perfect.
Next up was Fear factory. I was looking forward to this. They played two numbers when we saw smoke on the capmingsite (Near our tent). Worried as we were we went to see if everything was ok. When we came back to the mainstage Fear factory was finished. 19.00 Dimmu Bogir played on the black stage. Agata being a fan big fan off Dimmu we had to see them. The tent was well filled. And the performance was great. 21.50 Was the moment of truth. Matallica was Sunday's headliner. For me Metallica was the highlight of the festival. Songs like Battery, Enter sandman and Wherever I may roam past. Unfortunately our feet were very tired and we had to leave early.
Finally we visited The power pack and watched Nevermore after that it was time for bed.

Monday.

Monday morning it was time to head back home. On DOA it's tradition to burn everything that is left behind. So we woken up by the sound of exploding gas-bottles. After breakfast we packed up and went to the busses. This was to be the last queue. After 2 hours we got into the bus to Eindhoven.

Back home we took a well deserved shower.

We had the time of our life.
