Interview done in '97, after the recording of 'sounds..."

Hi guys, we've been drooling for your next full lenght from enough time.. have you yet recorded something? What have we to wait for?
Like I just said, we begin recording our next Lp this week. The title will probably be 'sounds of the animal kingdom'. There will be around 20 or 50 songs and it will sound like a cross between Need to control and Killtrendsuicide: raw but more expanding in sound and style. Billy Anderson will produce and it should be out by September. Oh yeah, we will records splits and comp. Tracks as well.

The first work of Brutal Truth was very 'death metal', now your music sounds more free and 'punky'. How this evolution went out? First B.T. were different guys with a different tastes or perhaps your first works weren't a good expressionof your musical attitude?
Yeah, that's right. Our first drummer was pretty much set in his ways. He didn't like Discharge... can you believe that? Well, Richard comes from the punk scene and is more open to different types of music. We are free to write whatever verses toward ones personal taste.

How much is important for you to play live? Have you evere been unplugged during a show?
Our first drummer hated practice, therefore, half the time we sucked live. Now it is different... I think we are more of a live band. We got a chance to play a lot of the new songs live on our last tour -about 60 shows- and hopefully it will show in the recording. Yeah, our sound got pulled in Philly one time... they said were too noisey.

What do you think about the American grind scene? Which are your favorite bands?
In New York, there are tons of cool bands: Disassociate, Cattle Press, Black Army Jacket. I think the grind scene is growing, probably cause the trend is over. Because there is no money to be made, the music is from the heart.

What do you think about porno grind bands? In Italy a lot of people says that a big part of this bands are racist and homophobic... Robert of Meatshit for exemple, but even Seth of Anal Cunt often use the word 'gay' as an infamous insult...
I don't know Robert, but Seth of A.C. uses the term gay to annoy people. I don't think he is homophobic, maybe just ill humor. Probably in the sense the Cannibal Corpse are blood curdle murderers... it's just their trip and not mine. The real homophobes and fascists are more subtle therefore, more dangerous.

You have played live in Italy... what do you remember about our country? Which are your favourite Italian bands?
I was into the older h.c. bands Raw Power, Negazione... I'm not too familiar with the new scene, although the noise stuff is cool.

In Italy just a little parts of your works can be found in the underground distro lists and if you want to buy the new B.T.'s Cd, you have to exit in a music shop and pay an astronomical price
Well in most countries where Cd or record price are too expensive, the bootleg business is large. It is impossible to control prices from our stand point. The market is set by what the businessman thinks he can get. If you make things cheaply available, it doesn't mean the average kid will see it.
