'chair Cut!
When silverchair first appeared, many critics said it would be a case
of "chair today, gone tomorrow."
But with the sales of more then four million albums during the past
three years, silverchair have shown they are cut above the rest.
Now it's a case of "hair today, gone tomorrow," because the band have
shocked their fans by cutting off their long locks.
Daniel Johns' new look is the Australian music industry's biggest haircut
since Michael Hutchence's pre-Grammy haircut in 1989.
Daniel's move had 'chair fans ringing the ABC music show Recovery and
wanting to know whether the haircut rumours were true.
This photo shows that drummer Ben Gillieshas also opted for a new look.
Daniel and Ben were following the lead of bass player Chris Joannou
whose hair was the first to go.
Chris says: "I just thought, 'Oh, this is so much better and there's just
no worries."
"You know, you just get up and go. You don't have to worry about having
a big mangled knot in the back of your head, you know. Waking up with
bedhead and stuff like that. Short hair is heaps better."
silverchair are on the charts with 'Cemetery,' the third single
from their second album, Freak Show.
