| Kaylyn yawned and checked her watch again. She groaned as she saw what time it was. It was 9:00 PM and she was exhausted. The flight that Valerie Rogers', her boss, son was on was 2 hours late, and the hundreds of teenyboppers surrounding her, either chanting or screaming, were not helping her headache any. "Flight 235 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Orlando, Florida is now arriving. Repeat, Flight 235 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Orlando, Florida is now arriving," a voice announced over the PA system. "Thank you God," Kaylyn mumbled, grateful for the fact that she would soon be escaping the horde of over-hormonal teens and pre-teens. She stood up and pulled the note Valerie had given her to show to one of her son's bodyguards out of her purse and began to scan the crowd, looking for one of the men Valerie had shown her pictures of. She spotted one of them leaning against the wall, cleverly concealing a door, where she assumed the guys would be waiting until the teenyboppers dissipated. She moved purposefully towards him, wincing inwardly as she realized how large he was. As she approached, she saw him sizing her up and felt like she was being assesed to see if she was 'big' enough to eat. "May I help you ma'am?" he asked in a surprisingly soft tone of voice. "Hi, I'm Kaylyn Limez, Valerie Rogers' assistant. She sent me here to pick the guys up," Kaylyn said, handing him Valerie's note. He scanned the contents quickly and nodded, verifying that Valerie had actually sent the girl through the password she'd scribbled at the bottom. "Nice to meet you Kaylyn. I'm Troy Michaels, the head bodyguard." He extended his hand and she quickly shook it. He moved away from the door, and gestured for her to go in. "The guys are in there, you'll have to wait about fifteen to twenty minutes before you can leave though because of the fans." Kaylyn nodded, unhappy at having to wait longer, but keeping silent. "Okay, thanks." "No problem. Oh, and beware of Dru...his girlfriend just broke up with him. He's had a really bad temper since," Troy warned. Kaylyn winced. "Thanks for the warning, but it would be a little more effective if say," she paused, "I knew who Dru was." Troy laughed, a deep booming sound. "That would help," he agreed with a smile. Kaylyn grinned in response. Troy motioned to another large man, who came walking over to them. "Yeah T?" he asked in a gruff voice. "Kaylyn, this is Mike. Mike, this is Kaylyn, Valerie's assistant," Troy introduced. "Nice to meet you," Mike said, shaking her hand. "You too," Kaylyn smiled. "Anyway," Troy interjected. "Mike, I need you to guard the door while I take Kaylyn in and introduce her to the guys." "No problem," Mike said, moving in front of the door after Troy and Kaylyn had entered. Kaylyn trailed behind Troy, slightly apprehensive. "Yo T! How much longer?" a dark haired guy with a mole at the upper right corner of his mouth asked. "Probably another 15-20 minutes DLO," Tryo said. Three of the four men in the room groaned, while the fourth appeared to not have heard, staring off into space. "Well, hello," another dark haired guy said, spotting Kaylyn behind Troy. "And who is this hiding behind you T?" Kaylyn gave him a strange look and stepped out from behind Troy. She smiled nervously at the four guys. "Guys, this is Kaylyn Limez. She's Valerie's assistant. Kaylyn, this is Raul Molina, David Perez - also known as DLO, Brody Martinez, and Dru Rogers," Troy said, starting with the guy who had first noticed Kaylyn, then to the guy he'd called DLO, the other dark haired guy who hadn't spoken yet, and then finally to the blond who had come out of his daze as Troy introduced Kaylyn. "Nice to meet you," David said, kissing her cheek. "You too," Kaylyn said, smiling up at him from her meager 5'3" stance. This action was repeated by Brody and Dru, then Raul approached her. Kaylyn swallowed nervously. She thought Raul was cute, but she didn't want to get involved in a relationship right now. Raul smiled at her. She's real cute he thought. Wait, what am I thinking?! I don't need a girlfriend right now! Dru and Ellen's break-up is proof enough that singers shouldn't date! He leaned in and lightly brushed her cheek with his lips, his eyes widening as he felt sparks fly down his spine. Oh God, this isn't happening! I'm not ready for this! he thought frantically. Kaylyn's eyes widened in shock as she felt sparks go through her at the touch of Raul's mouth on her cheek. Oh God, I don't need this now! What are you doing up there?! Kaylyn took a few steps away from Raul and took a deep breath before facing the group. "Well, nice to meet all of you. As Troy said, I'm Valerie's assistant, and as soon as they okay us to leave, I'll be taking you to your hotel. A limo driver would normally do that, but the service we usually book through doesn't have any limos available for four days. Until then, I'll be your chauffeur, so if you need anything just let me know." Brody, David, and Raul gave her a weird look as she finished, but Dru was off in his own little world again. "What?" she asked, confused. "Did you breathe at all in there?" Brody asked, his eyes wide. Kaylyn laughed. "Yeah, it's just that I've learned to breathe only when absolutely necessary while giving a speech." "Maybe you should teach us that, because then we could out notes longer," David teased. Kaylyn laughed. "It's not teachable. It's something that you just learn." "Oh well," Brody laughed. "Hey guys?" Mike said, sticking his head in the room. "Yeah?" they answered. "Y'all can leave now," Mike said with a smile. "Thank you God!" David cried. Kaylyn laughed. "Excited much?" |
