| Chapter 1: *BUZZ* *BUZZ* Angel groaned and smacked her hand down on the snooze button. "Angel! Get up out of bed and get ready for school!" her mom yelled from downstairs. "I'm up! I'm up!" she yelled. Angel jumped out of bed and grabbed a gray and white plaid skirt with two chain hooks on the front, and a plain white shirt. She quickly took a shower, put her blonde hair up in a french braid and got dressed, even though she knew she'd have to put on her battle uniform as soon as she got to school. Today was the monthly battle between the Alpha and the Omega teams. Angel was a member of the Omega team. She smiled soberly to herself as she compared what her parents thought she learned at school to what she actually did. Jackson Prep was a nationally known school, reputed for it's academics, and was extremely hard to get into. Instead of the students learning normal subjects, they learned swordfighting. Their teacher taught them to fight to kill, because he had found a magic spell in an ancient book that would heal all wounds of the dead or living in a 50 meter radius. Angel put on her shoes and ran downstairs. Her mother handed her an apple. "Here, you're late," she said. Angel nodded and took the apple. "Bye!" she said, running out the door just in time to catch the bus. She walked all the way to the back of the bus to sit with Katherine, another member of the Omega team at Jackson Prep. Omega was made up mostly of girls and Alpha mostly of boys. Aly, the leader of the Omega team was a Colonel. Krystal, the second in command was a Lt. Colonel. Amanda, the third in command was ranked as a Major. Angel was fourth and a Captain, and Kat was fifth and a 1st Lt. "Hey Angel. Ready for today?" Kat greeted. Jarod, a student at the local high school who had a crush on Angel, leaned back, hearing their conversation. "Big test today?" he asked. "Yeah," Angel lied adroitly. "Cool. What subject?" he asked, desperate to keep the conversation going as long as he could. "Physics," Angel said, naming the first subject that came to mind. Jarod whistled. "That's some hard shit." Angel nodded. "Very," she said dryly. Angel had never taken a class in Physics in her life. She turned her attention to Kat. "Yeah, I think so. How about you?" |
