You Never Know: Chapter 2
"Hi, can I request a song?" Angel asked as the DJ at Q102, her favorite radio station, answered the phone.

"You're caller number 10! Who is this?" the DJ said.

"This is Angel. What'd I win?"

"You've won three front row tickets and backstage passes to a concert on Q's Wheel of Concerts!"

"That's awesome!" Angel said excitedly.

"The concerts available are Backstreet Boys, Brandy, Eve 6 and Limp Bizkit. Let's spin the wheel and see where it stops!" the DJ sounded like he was on crack, she thought.

"Sure!" Angel replied.

"Here we go..." the DJ trailed off. "...and it's the Backstreet Boys! You've won tickets and backstage passes to tonight's Backstreet Boys concert at Riverbend Coliseum."

"Oh wow, that's great," Angel said in a considerably less excited tone.

"Hold on while I play a song," the DJ said as he put her on hold. Angel waited and could faintly hear 'The Hardest Thing' by 98 Degrees, she thought it was, over the phone. "Okay, what's your name, address, age, and phone number." Angel gave him her information and then hung up after he informed her to pick the tickets and passes up at will call before the concert.

As soon as Angel placed the phone down it rang again. She picked it back up. "Hello?"

"Oh my God Angel! You won front row tickets and backstage passes to the concert!" Caitlin screamed.

"Oww, my ears," Angel moaned, pulling the phone away from her ear. Caitlin continued squealing in excitement. "CAITLIN! Shut up!" Caitlin shut up quickly. "Okay, I know you're excited and all about getting to see them live rather than on TV, but I gotta go. I need to call Brendan," she said hastily, before Caitlin could start screaming again.

"Oh, okay Angel. I'll just call Melissa and give her the info, so we'll be ready for the concert tonight, alright?"

"Yeah, please. I don't want to listen to her screaming. I had to listen to you and that was enough for me," Angel said, sighing in relief.

"Ha ha. Very funny Angel," Caitlin said.

Angel could almost hear her pouting on her end of the phone. "Bye Cait."

"Bye Angel."

Angel waited for Caitlin to hang up, then dialed Brendan's number.

*ring ring* *ring ring*

"Hello?" a familiar female voice answered.

"Hi, is Brendan there?" Angel asked, wrinkling her forehead as she tried to figure out why a female was answering Brendan's phone when he lived alone with his dad.

"Come back to bed baby." Angel heard Brendan's voice drift from over his end of the phone. Angel saw red. He did not just tell somebody to come back to bed.

"It's for you Bren," the girl said.

"Hello?" Brendan said into the phone.

"You bastard! You f*cking bastard!" Angel screamed into the phone. "I can't believe you f*cking cheated on me! I've been faithful to you for two damn years and this is how you repay me! You friggin cheat on me! I can't believe you Brendan!"

"Oh, um, hi Angel," Brendan stuttered. Angel could hear him whispering something to the girl with him. He obviously thought that he had the mouth of the receiver covered up so she couldn't hear him. "I'll call you later Kaylyn." she heard him say.

No. It couldn't be Kaylyn. My best friend and my boyfriend?! How cliche is this crap! Angel thought angrily. "Christ Brendan! You couldn't just cheat on me with anybody could you? No, you had to cheat on me with my best friend! No, wait, correction - my ex-best friend! Screw this relationship Brendan!"

"Now, Angel babe, calm down. It's not what you think it is," Brendan tried to placate her.

"Not what I think it is, eh? Well, I don't care anymore Brendan. We're through!" Angel yelled and slammed the phone down. It immediately rang again and she picked it up. "Brendan, don't you ever call me again. Period. I don't care what your reasons are, I never want to even share the same air as you again. Goodbye."

Angel slammed the phone back down and burst into tears. She stumbled into her room and collapsed on her bed and cried herself to sleep.
