"Best Boy Bands : All the music men who make you melt"

Caption

C Note: These so-suave upstarts on the singing-dancing scene– Raul Monlina, David Perez, Jose “Brody” Martinez and Dru Rogers– call their debut album Different Kind of Love. And what’s so different? Well, three of the guys are lovably latin, which brings uniquely yummy spice to their tunes. No wonder so many girls are going around demanding, “Yo quiero C Note”

Interview

With so many guy groups out there, what makes C Note stand out?
*Dru: Our music is not pop, it’s not R&B, it’s not Latin-it’s the whole bunch mixed together.

But Dru’s obviously no Latin!
*Brody: We needed a token blonde! Kidding!
*Dru: I grew up listening to a lot of funk, jazz and R&B. As for the Latin thing, I’m learning as I go along.

You guys are buds. Does that keep the group strong?
*David: When you’re friends first, you have that click- you know how when you get around certain people and you tell a joke and everyone gets it? Because of that, we have a lot of fun doing what we do.
*Brody: Talking to us, seeing us onstage, listening to our album, you can tell we’re not just going through the motions.

What kind of fans do you have?
*David: So many different kinds of people groove with us, which is great because we want our music to cross barriers of age, color, race, whatever.

Did you know you had something special from the start?
*Brody: Not to be cocky, but before we were signed or had a manager, any time we were together, heads turned.

Do you worry about becoming too famous?
*Brody: We’re still pretty new to this, so we want the mobs of fans, we want people to come running after us, we want to be escorted from the building!

Is it hard work?
*Raul: The hours are demanding, you have no control over your time and there’s no time to eat- and eating is very important to us! But it’s the best job in the world. We used to sit in my room and talk about it till three in the morning, and now we’re doing it.

So, no time to date?
[Laughter all around.]
*David: Having a date and having a real relationship are two different things.
*Brody: It’s like you want somebody you can always call, but it’s not fair for her. So women have a problem dating us. A girl would have to be understanding.

And what else?
*Raul: If attraction is also a given, I’d say trust and intelligence.
*Brody: Honesty and fun. And I like an athletic girl.
*Dru: Class! She’s gotta be classy- I don’t like people who are rude and don’t have good manners.
*David: She should be stylish, outgoing, spiritual and deep.

What are three Spanish words every girl should know?
*Raul: Bella [means beautiful].
*Brody: Amor [love].
*Dru: C Note!
