Paint Shop Pro
For Win3.1/95/98
Description:
Have you ever wished you could replace a family members head with the family dog's
head? Well then PSP(Paint Shop Pro) is in my opinion the best picture editor I've
come across. Our company Christmas picture that we sent out one year, had a couple
folks missing. So of course using PSP we scanned their pictures in and with one
of them we turned her hair into a clown afro and made the other guy bald. A couple
years later an employee wastransferred to our office and thought the bald guy was
using ro-gain. haha...
Pro's:
This program is very easy to use and a fun picture editor. There's virtually nothing
you can't do with this editor. It only takes a couple hours to learn most of the
ins-and-outs of the program. You can copy colors to the color palate from a picture
to edit it and there is an option where you can set a brush to a point on the
picture and then as you use a second brush the first one moves with it but it moves
starting at the point you selected so it makes blending very easy and if you're
good it's very hard to detect it was edited.
Con's:
It takes quite a while to get good at manipulating pictures, although it is the easiest
one I've found so far.
Well of course it is shareware and does cost allot. You get 30 days then you need to
buy the full version. Here's a little hint, if you get the Windows 95/98 version after
around 70 days or so you are told you need to buy it. If you change the date on the start bar in
Windows you will be able to use it but it's still a pain to keep doing that. Now
if you get the windows 3.1 version it will work with windows 95/98. It may not
look as pretty as the 95 version but it has all the same features (I noticed
it actually has more options believe it or not) and you can use it as long
as you like and it will not lock you out.
Overall:
This is a good program for image editing. But you might want to stick with the
older version of this program that runs on WIN 3.1 The browse feature may be better
in the newer version but they left out re-sampling and only have re-sizing
(if you don't know re-sampling creates a better picture than the command re-sizing)
in the newer version. The newer version takes up more space and will eventually
lock you out if you don't buy it. Not to mention it's priced a little on the high
side.
