Screen Saver Info.

What is a screen saver?
When you leave your computer on for a while and all of the sudden the screen changes and you see something like moving stars or objects floating around the screen you are seeing a screen saver.

Why is it doing that?
Well in the early years of computers and arcade games, monitors where not near as good as they are today. So if you left your computer on for quite some time whatever was on the screen would burn into the monitor's screen.

Let's say someone forgot to turn off the monitor and the word "net" was on the screen. Well if you turned off the monitor several hours later you could still see the word "net" and no mater what program you ran the word would always be there, kind of like a sunburn on the screen.

So what does a Screen Saver have to do with that?
Well someone decided to invent the Screen Saver. These images flying around the screen prevent the "sunburn" because the image always changes, keeping any images from staying on the screen too long and burning it. You'll notice now days arcade games are always changing screens when nobody is playing them to prevent this.

Will this happen to my monitor?
Yes. But only if you keep the computer monitor turned on for an extended period of time. Most monitors today can go for long periods without worry. However if you have an older monitor there is a good chance of this happening without a screen saver, or it may have already happened to you.

What can I do if this has happened to me?
Sadly only one thing, buy a new monitor.

Can I control the screen saver?
Of course you can! Here's how to do it....
1. Place your pointer on any BLANK area in windows and click the RIGHT mouse button. A list will come up and you then click on the word "Properties"

2. Now you should see the image below:

3. Click on the screen saver tab like the image above shows.
4. You see that Box with the word "None" in it? Click on the arrow to select from different screen savers.

How do I get a Screen Saver I like??
Easy just find one or more on the net, then you will need to do one of the following:
1. Some screen savers will run and install themselves on you computer.

2. If this is not the case you will see a file that ends with ".scr" just click on "my computer", then click on "C:" then click on "Windows" after this you just need to drag the file and drop it in here.(the windows directory)

Hope this helped you out. If you are still confused you can email me at jason007@hotmail.com and let me know how I can make this page a little easier to understand.
