WINZIP


What is winzip you ask?

This is a utility that takes multiple files and combines them into one file. Then after you download the file you double click on it and Winzip will un-zip the files to your computer, making it allot easier to download just one file instead of 10 or 15 files.
For example lets say you have 100 jelly beans and you want to give them all to your friend. Well if you take each one to your friend's house (one at a time) you're in for a long day. But if you put them all in a jar it only takes one trip to your friends house.

This utility will also zip-up just one file, but why would you want to zip just one file? Winzip reduces the size of the files. Let's say you have a map. You need to unfold the map to read it's contents and then when finished with it you try to refold it and tuck it away. Well winzip is like an automatic map folder, it folds up the info (so it takes up less space) the same way every time and if you have this automatic map folder (Winzip) on your computer it can unfold the info so the computer can see the map and run the program(s).

Of course it doesn't actually fold and unfold the data but this is an easy way to look at Winzip and understand how it works. Almost all sites use this to reduce the amount of files you have to download and also reduce the amount of space taken up by the file. Therefore you spend way less time downloading those files.
