You guys miss hearing from 5ive? Well I do too. They may be gettin' down again, but are 5ive still the coolest band in pop? Tv Hits put the lads to the cool test! I hope you enjoy this article i got from the cool mag Tv Hits.
What makes a pop star cool?
Abs: You're either cool or you're not! I don't think you're cool just 'cause you're a pop star!
Rich: It's about being a nice bloke and having a good attitude(Aww, shucks)
Scott: Coolest pop stars are the ones who don't worry about where they're seen or who they're pictured with
Sean: I'm not interested in that stuff
J: I'd say it's staying the person you were before-you meet so many people and the fame's gone to their heads.
How cool do you think 5IVE are then?
Rich: Oh, we're super cool!
Scott: We're the coolest of the cool! 5IVE are the best!
Sean: I haven't got a clue-I don't know what cool is!
J: We're pretty cool. We've all stayed pretty chilled out and down to earth with it all
Are you cooler since joining the band?
Abs: Erm, I've grown up a lot and i see things in a different light. I think I thought I was cooler then, but now I realise I was a complete geek (laughs)!
Rich: I've got a better idea of clothes than I had in the past, but it's all a part of growing up.
Sean: I'm not trendy at all
Scott: I've just grown up. I'm not cool and I never have been! The only thing that's cool is that instead of two pairs of jeans, I've got 20!
Are you embarassed about any of your dance routines?
Abs: Not at all! I've nothing to complain about!
Rich: No, although I'm not keen on "Got The Feeling"-I don't like my hands in the air!
Sean: No.(Tell us what ya really think!)
J: The thing that does my head in the most is "Got The Feeling"...that thing at the start where we all hop backwards and forwards-I just cringe!
Who are the coolest girls in pop right now?
Rich: The Honeyz! All Saints were funky in the "Lady Marmalade" too.
Sean: Spice Girls!
Scott: The BWitched girls have a great image...they stand out!
J: I'd probably opt for The Spice Girls. They're cool 'cause they opted to keep going. And Geri, because she had the guts to split from them.
If you were clubbing and a 5IVE song came on, would you dance?
Abs: I wouldn't dance...I'm not that sad! I'd hide myself, just becauce everyone would be going, "Did you ask for them to put this on?" and everyone stares!
Rich: It's embarrassing! I certainly wouldn't dance! I'd just watch everybody else. Once I was in a record shop and "Everybody Get Up" came on then some fans saw me and they played the whole album.
Sean: I got nervous about dancing in public!
Scott: If they played "Got The Feeling", I'd run as far as I could! It's our cheesiest track!
J: I'd just find a way to cover myself, 'cause if people don't know you they assume that because you're a pop star, you're big headed. Sometimes they every try to pick a fight!
Can you do the STEPS routine for "Love's Got A Hold On My Heart"?
Abs: Nope! And I don't think I'd ever want to!
Rich: I can do "Tragedy"! All you've gotta do is move your arms around your head and you can do all of them!
J: No, I can't do any...and wouldn't be looking to do so in the future(laughs)!
Who's the most uncool band in pop?
Scott: Cartoons and The Vengaboys!
J: I'd probably have to say STEPS, actually!
Who do you reckon is gonna be the next cool thing in pop music?
Abs: It's difficult to say, purely because there are so many cool bands coming out. A1 and Westlife are cool, but they're too manufactured
Scott: Apart from 5IVE coming back with a bang, I think the A1 lads will do well. I wish them luck!
J: So many people who are being released at theh moment are the same old thing, y'know? But a lot of people don't like change. That's why we were worried when we started. We weren't the sterotypical boy band. And we thought, "Is it gonna work?" Luckily(for these 5IVE guys), it did!
