Kellyn whistled. When the security guard turned, Kel beckoned him with her hand. He walked to the fence.
"Can I help you?" The security guard, John his nametag said, asked.
Kel smiled prettily. "Can I have backstage passes?" She asked sweetly.
John smiled a very teeth grin. "No." He said as his face dropped and he walked away. Kel shrugged and returned to where Lauren was fanning herself with a brochure for Car Insurance.
"I tried to get backstage but the guy said no." Kel said as she sat down indian-style.
"It was worth a try." Lauren said. The girls sat silently for a minute. "This is kind of boring." Lauren continued, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, well..." Kel put her legs out in front of her and picked at her nailpolish. It was cracking anyway. She had painted small Canadian flags on each of her fingernails. She had been extremely bored.
"Please form a single file line!" John's voice bellered. Kel and Lauren both cocked their heads up. The line to go in was forming and they were letting people in. Both girls shot up and hurried to the gate, where other Moffatt fans and some 98° fans were in line.
Once they got through the doors, they hurried to find their seats. Kel and Lauren's faces dropped. They were in the grandstand. Way down to the left and far back. Section 6, Row K, seats 34 & 35.
Kel gave Lauren a pained look. "Great seats, Lauren."
Lauren hurried to defend herself. "This was the best I could get on such short notice. We're lucky we got seats at all!" They shifted a bit and sat.
"This is boring, and the concert won't start for another hour." Kel complained. She had an idea. "Lauren, I have an idea."
Lauren looked at Kel with a doubtful look. Let's go down there and see if we can like stand in the aisle for the concert so we're closer." Kel suggested. Lauren doubted the plan, but went along with it.
When they left the grandstand, they came to a 98° merchandise table. Kel looked at some blue shiny Moffatt stickers and asked the lady how much they were.
"The stickers are free." She said.
Kel looked at Lauren and raised her eyebrows. "Can I take more than one?" Kel asked, turning to the lady again.
The lady hesitated. "Sure, but don't take a handful."
When the lady turned to help some customers, Kel grabbed somewhere in the vicinity of 12, and Lauren about 8. The two giggled and went to the opposite end of the grandstand to the other merchandise table. This time Kel grabbed about 13 and Lauren about 18. They giggled and put the stickers on their white shirts on the chest.
Walking to the fence that separated the backstage field portion from the seating area, Kel and Lauren leaned to look at the Moffatts' bus. Lauren hauled out her camera. "Picture!" She said and snapped a photo of their bus.
Kel laughed. "They flew in, it's not their tour bus." Lauren mumbled she didn't care and the two giggled.
After watching the bus for about five minutes, Kel and Lauren decided to look around for empty seats that they could sit in. They found some and sat down next to a teen girl, who was also their to see the Moffatts.
"Have you been to a Moffatts' concert before?" Kel asked the girl.
"Yeah, five. They get better every time though!" The girl smiled.
"I'm Kel and this is Lauren." Kel introduced herself and Lauren.
The girl smiled. "I'm LauraSue, but people call me LS."
Kel smiled. After awhile she added, "What do you figure the Moffatts are doing right now?"
LS looked at her and smiled.
"Scott if you took my drumsticks again I'm gonna beat your ---!" Bob said in a frenzy.
"It wasn't me." Scott said, fixing his tie and passing his brother in the crowded bus aisle.
"I saw them on the TV, Bob." Clint said, pulling on some white socks as his feet dangled from his top bunk.
"Thanks." Bob said and headed to the back of the bus.
Sheila appeared on the bus and announced they had a half hour before performance. "So just relax, Bob. It'll be fine." She said and went back to doing whatever she was doing outside.
Scott climbed off the bus to get fresh air and heard about thirty bloody-murder screams. He looked around and saw about thirty teenage girls screaming their heads off and looking directly at him. He wanted so bad to go over to them, but he didn't want to get mobbed.
Scott smiled and waved and walked around the back of the bus to where they couldn't see him. He needed to run, but figured the only way to do that was to stay behind the stage and bus.
Scott picked up speed just in time for his new puppy, Little Miss Moffatt, to come barrelling from the front of the bus. He just about stepped on her and tripped. Frank appeared running after "Moffatt", as they call her. "Sorry Scott!" Frank yelled after he had dissappeared around the corner of the bus, following "Moffatt".
Scott stood up and brushed himself off. He was thankful not to have gotten grass stains or mud on him. Just then, Scott heard those screeching screams again. In a hurry, Bob appeared around the back of the bus where Scott was.
"They never give up do they?" Bob said and laughed.
Scott shook his head. "Never." The two laughed.
Bob smiled mischieviously. "Well, Elvis, now's your chance." Bob said and folded his hands and let them rest by his zipper.
Scott wiped off his left elbow and looked up at Bob and then at his arm again. "What are you talking about?"
"You wanted one, now go get one." Bob smiled that "you-have-six-weeks-to-turn-her-into-the-prom-queen-she's-all-that-bet-maker-guy" type attitude.
