chapter thirteen

Kellyn and Lauren's heads shot to the right as they heard glass shattering screams coming from the fence they had just been at. Lauren looked at Kel. They figured one of the Moffatts had come out of the bus. They started to stand up, but LS told them they should just sit, the guys did that sometimes just to get screams.

When the screams died down, they noticed there was a new guard holding the girls back. After awhile, they saw the old one come back and talk to a ditzy blond and point to where the Moffatts' bus was.

As they watched her, she screamed like you could not believe. The guard pulled a Backstage Pass sticker out of his shirt pocket and give it to her. She quickly peeled the backing off and stuck it on her red tank top and pushed past the guard. She ran so fast after one second Kel and Lauren couldn't see her anymore. She had disappeared behind a semi that was parked to keep people out of the backstage area.

"That could've been me." Lauren almost growled.

Kel looked at her like she was nuts and started laughing. "Yeah, right." Lauren knew her friend was right and let it go.

LS turned to the friends and smiled. "Ya'll are gonna have so much fun." Kel and Lauren smiled back.

"I hope so." Kel said. Then she continued. "Do you think they'll sign autographs?" She asked LS.

"Well, usually they do. I don't know, seeming as how they're just opening for 98°." LS said. It was obvious LS hadn't thought about autographs until now. "They might." LS gave the friends a glimmer of hope.

"I hope they do." Lauren said and looked at the stage where, in a few minutes, The Moffatts would be performing.

Kel and Lauren got ansy. LS giggled. "You guys are gonna have nervous breakdowns, settle down."

After about seven minutes, a radio DJ called "Man At Large" came out on stage. He went up to what would be Clint's microphone and stood until he had the entire place's attention.

"Hi!" He said and smiled. "There's a reason a lot of you girls came here tonight, and it wasn't because of 98°." Man At Large said. Kel and Lauren looked at LS who was smiling.

"This first group hails from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They've toured all over the world and are famous in Germany, England, Scotland, Australia, Asia, and pretty much all of Europe, as well as the US and Canada. They are extremely famous in other countries, and now they're taking over the United States. Ya'll please give it up for Bob, Scott, Clint and Dave! THE MOFFATTS!!!!" Man At Large finished and all the Moffatt fans burst into a big round of screams. Then they appeared.

Bob went to his drums and Dave to his keyboards. Scott and Clint went to the front of the stage. They already had their guitars hanging on straps over their torsos. The fans refused to stop screaming until finally Scott spoke up.

"What's up, BILLERICAAAAAAAAA!" Scott yelled into the microphone.

The fans went nuts again. Without further ado, the Moffatts went into "Raining In My Mind." Kel and Lauren stood up on their chairs and started freaking out. LS did the same. Kel and Lauren danced. Bob stared right at Kel. Kel smiled and waved to him. He nodded back as if saying "hi". Kel smiled again and looked at her friend. Lauren was taking pictures like mad. Click click click click Kel laughed.

Lauren's face dropped as her film rewound in her camera. She dug in her pocket for another roll of film and found one quickly. Once her film was done rewinding, she shoved another roll in and started snapping pictures more.

Kel shook her head and danced along with the music. Even the 98° fans were dancing on chairs.

After awhile, some authorities told the girls to sit down and they did as the rest of the crowd did the same.

Not too long after that, a guard, accompanied by a furious woman and her daughter, came along and asked to see Kel and Lauren's tickets. Kel shook her head, telling the guard they didn't have seventh row tickets. He got extremely mad and pointed to the aisle, signalling them to "GET OUT NOW!" as he said it too.

Kel and Lauren said good-bye to LS and went back to their seats in the grandstand. Kel was bummed and Lauren was sad, but they managed to have a great time during the rest of the concert.

After the Moffatts exited the stage, Man At Large came back out in a hurry. "There will be an autograph line right now for the Moffatts until 98° comes out." He went backstage again.

Kel and Lauren looked at each other. They didn't have to be told twice. They shot up and down to where Man At Large had instructed. It had taken them awhile to get there from the grandstand, so they were quite a ways back in the line.

The line was moving quick and after about 15 minutes, the two girls were about seven people away.

Just then, the crew for 98° started to prepare the stage. Kel got worried. "Uh oh."

Lauren looked and feared the worst. There was only about four people in front of them now and Kel and Lauren could see the guys perfectly.

"Sh*t!" Lauren yelled and searched around in her bag for her camera. She had forgotten to get it out in advance. "Kel, hold this!" Lauren said, shoving her "I Love Scott" sign into her best friend's arms. Kel laughed as they inched closer to the Moffatts.

Kel saw Sheila telling the guys it was time to go. Kel opened the sign on accident and saw Scott look directly at it. His eyes lit up as he saw how pretty she was and hurried back to the table they had just been at, grabbed Kel's arm and dragged her, yelling at Lauren, backstage. Lauren was confused and ran after her friend, but a crewman held her back. "KELLLLLL!" Lauren screamed. Kel was yelling back at her but Scott had a tight grip on her arm and she couldn't do anything but follow him. "LAUREN! LAUREN!" Kel yelled. It was no use. Scott had her, and he wasn't gonna let go.
