chapter sixteen

Kel sat in front of Scott and him as a guy she really wanted to know and like, not just "Scott Moffatt." Scott looked back at her.

When she got up the nerve to talk, she smiled. "You guys did great tonight. You're very talented, Scott." Kel said.

Scott smiled and scooted towards her. "Did you hear 'Girl Of My Dreams'?" Scott asked.

Kel hoped she knew what he was going to say. "Yes." Kel smiled.

"That is the kind of song we sing for you, Kellyn." Scott said, enjoying saying her name.

Kel smiled. "Thank you." She said shyly, then added, "You can call me Kel. My friends do." Kel said. Then she thought of Lauren. "Oh my Gosh." She got worried and her face dropped. She had just left Lauren all alone. Now she was probably wandering around somewhere on the fairgrounds. She hoped Lauren was alright.

Scott noticed Kel getting worried. "What? What's wrong?" He asked quickly.

Kel felt terrible. "Lauren. My best friend. I left her standing there." Then Kel remembered the sign. "Oh and the sign. I was holding her sign and I dropped it and now its probably ruined."

Scott couldn't believe it. "You mean, that wasn't your sign that said 'I Love Scott'?" Scott asked.

Kel shook her head. "No. It was Lauren's." Kel said.

Scott sighed. "I can't do anything right." He mumbled. Kel heard him.

"What do you mean? You don't want to hang out with me because I'm not in "love" with you? That's shallow, Scott." Kel said, jumping to conclusions and started to stand up. Scott smiled and laughed a little. He grabbed for her arm. He missed and she started to walk for the gate Lauren was just at.

Scott stumbled but stood up and went after her. He couldn't miss this chance. It was his only one and he knew what he wanted to do. He hoped she wanted it too.

As Kel walked away she desperately wanted Scott to come after her. She didn't think he was until out of the corner of her eye she saw him behind her.

Scott couldn't decide whether to make his move or not. He was torn. What if she slapped him? What if she didn't? What if she got to the fence before he had a chance to make his move and then he'd get mobbed if he went outside the fence? He couldn't wait any longer.

Scott grabbed for Kel's arm and spun her around and to her surprise, Scott pressed his lips to hers and held her close to him.

Kel didn't expect it, but she strangely got a tingle down her spine and didn't attempt to pull away.

Although neither of them knew it, right then Bob appeared in the bus doorway just in time to see his brother and the fan he wanted to meet kissing in the darkness of the night. There was just enough light to make out their faces. This was one girl Bob was not going to let Scott steal from him.

Bob walked with a purpose towards the two. When he reached them, he grabbed Scott's shoulder and spun him around. Bob looked with angry eyes into Scott's pleased blue ones, blurry from being closed.

Not acting like himself, Bob got mad. "I'll kill you." He growled.
