Kel snuggled up in her sleeping bag after she had set the tent up. It had taken her about seven minutes and now she was sleepy. She had had a long day.
As she recapped the day's events, Kel heard the bus door shut quietly. She layed still waiting to hear what was going on. Quietly and slowly, Kel heard the zipper of the tent unzipping.
Kel acted asleep, not moving except for her slow, even breathing. She noticed out of the corner of her eye a figure next to her, holding something dark.
"Kellyn?" A familiar voice asked. Kel rolled over as if she had been sleeping and opened her eyes. She couldn't make out a face in the dark. Just then, fixing her problem, the guy flicked on a flashlight.
Kel shaded her eyes, adjusting to the brightness. When she was used to it, she opened her eyes and looked up into the face of Dave. She smiled. "Hey Dave, what's up?" Kel said, forgetting to act sleepy.
"I brought you something." He said quietly. He held up some pajama pants and a long Toronto Maple Leafs sweatshirt. "To keep you warm." Kel smiled and sat up, taking the garments from Dave.
"That was very thoughtful of you."
"I don't know why Scott didn't think of it, but I figured, hey, why not, ya know?" Dave smiled.
Kel smiled too. "I can't put them on if you're in here." Kel giggled. Dave smiled again. "Oh yeah."
Dave returned to the exterior of the tent and Kel noticed he was only in his boxers and a Roots t shirt. "'Night, Kellyn." Dave said and turned to leave. Kel put her hand up and waved a little.
"Goodnight." Kel smiled and zipped the tent back up. She heard the bus door close as it normally did and smiled. She thought about Scott dreaming away in the bus. She slipped on the sweatshirt and folded up the pajama pants. She already was warm enough inside the sleeping bag because she had pants on already. She guessed Dave hadn't noticed. She wondered what Scott was dreaming about. Was it her? Was it someone else? Then an idea struck Kel like a bolt of lightening.
Does he do this at every tour stop? Just find a cute girl and do this to her? Kel desperately hoped he didn't.
Bob layed awake in his bunk. All he could do was stare at the ceiling and think about Kel. The way her beautiful light brown almost blond hair bounced gently when she walked, how her eyes sparkled when she was happy or excited. He wanted her to like him and not his brother, who got all the girls.
He silently wondered what it was that Scott had that he didn't have. What was so appealing about Scott that Bob didn't show or have or whatever.
The thought of this led into a deep brainstorm. Then a little while later, a brainstorm plotting ways to kill Scott without anyone knowing. He knew it was impossible and he would never do it, but he wanted to very badly sometimes.
After about half an hour of laying there, thoughts pounding in his brain, he heard a rustle across the aisle and down into Dave's bunk. He was slipping back into bed. Bob didn't recall hearing him leave. He looked over to where Dave was cozying himself into his bed and turning on his side.
Bob smiled when a thought entered his mind. Maybe it was the absence of Dave's snoring that had kept him awake. Nah, it was Kel. He realized then he had to go talk to her. Not tomorrow, right now.
Bob slowly peered over the edge of his bunk down into Scott's. Scott was dead asleep, probably dreaming about Kel. Bob didn't care.
Not taking a coat or anything, Bob slipped quietly over the edge of his top bunk and snuck down the aisle towards the bus driver's sleeping quarters. So as not to wake up, Bob opened the bus door slowly and gently, not making any sound. He left the door open a crack so he didn't have to struggle to open it and cause a ruckus when he wanted to get back on the bus.
Bob crept slowly over to the small two person tent that was set up in front of the bus. He started to reach for the zipper but then pulled his hand back. He didn't want Kel to be mad. He couldn't decide what to do, but involuntarily his hand reached forward and unzipped the tent, revealing a teenage girl asleep in her sleeping bag. Bob watched her for a second. The way her chest rose and fell with each breath, and how her eyelids fluttered just a tiny bit when she let out a breath.
Bob inched forward. He didn't want to wake her up, so he just sat and waited for her. And when she did wake up, he had every intention of telling her how he felt.
Bob got cold and reached for the pajama pants that were so nicely folded in the corner of the tent. Bob figured this was what Dave had brought out. He slipped on the pants and accidently semi-kicked Kel. She rolled over and opened her eyes.
"Dave? Are you back?" Kel asked, confirming to Bob that Dave had visited her.
"Um...Kel...its me Bob." Bob said, his voice kind of shaky.
"Bob? What are you doing here?" Kel asked. She was a little more than surprised.
Bob chickened out. "I uh...came to...get my pajama pants. Yeah, uh, here they are! Sorry to wake you. Good night!" He said as he ducked out of the tent and zipped it back up.
