She remembered the whole situation with Kel. She was still upset with her.
Just then, startling Lauren, LS burst through her door. She saw Lauren jump a little in the bed. "Morning!" LS said rather loudly. Lauren smiled and rolled out of the bed with LS's pajamas on. LS had loaned them to her.
"How'd ya sleep?" LS asked perkily. "I slept just fine!" She said, going to her CD player and putting on "Over The Rainbow," a hidden track on the US Chapter I album.
Soon the sounds of a korn/limp bizkit type song filled the room. Lauren scrunched up her nose as she changed back into her regular clothes. "Over The Rainbow in the morning?" LS laughed.
"Yup. Something's gotta keep me awake!" LS grinned.
Once Lauren was dressed, she had an idea. "Can I use your phone?" She asked LS
LS reached under her bed and pulled out a green cordless phone and handed it to Lauren. The two giggled and Lauren took the phone.
Lauren sat down and dialed Kel's number. She heard it ring twice and then Mrs. Archer picked up. "Hello?"
"Hi, Mrs. Archer. It's Lauren." Lauren said and waited for a response.
"Hi Lauren! What can I do for you?" Mrs. Archer asked.
Lauren didn't waste any time. "Is Kel there?" She asked.
"No I'm sorry, honey. She slept at the fairgrounds last night. A lady named Sheila called me and let me know that she was safe and everything." Mrs. Archer informed.
Lauren clenched her teeth. "Oh. Thanks." She said and they said goodbye and hung up.
LS was waiting for an explanation for the scowl on Lauren's face when she hung up. "Lauren?"
"She slept with the f*cking Moffatts!" Lauren announced angrily.
"Shhhh! My mom will never let you come over again using that kind of language." LS warned. "Slept slept with them or just slept like with them?" LS asked.
"I don't know! She probably go into Scott's pants by now." Lauren said discouraged. But LS knew better.
"Lauren, think about what you just said." LS sat on her bed and looked at the upset Lauren. Lauren pursed her lips. She knew she was being unfair to Kel.
"Why didn't she come back for me or something?" Lauren asked.
LS shrugged. "Just forget it ever happened. Maybe she'll introduce you to them if we go there right now." She suggested.
Lauren thought for a moment. Maybe if they hurried they could catch Kel before the guys left for wherever they were going next.
"Let's go. Right now!" Lauren said, slipping on her shoes and throwing LS a pair of hers.
LS giggled. "Ok!" She said and put on her own shoes.
Scott woke up and looked around him. He noticed Dave sitting on his bed, putting on some socks and noticed Bob walking around in his boxers searching for a shirt. Clint was still asleep from what Scott could see. Dave looked up and noticed his brother awake, and in a t shirt he hadn't gone to sleep in.
"Did you wear that to bed?" Dave asked, looking at Scott's chest. He started to put a sock on the other foot.
Scott looked sleepily down at his chest. "Um...I needed some fresh air last night." Scott lied.
"Yeah...right." Dave smiled and finished putting on his sock. He stood up and went to the back of the bus talking to himself about something or other.
Avoiding the risk of being asked again about his attire, Scott removed the shirt and stuffed it under his bunk. He reached down under the covers and wriggled out of the sweatpants and put those, too, under his bunk. He tossed the small covers over towards the wall and swung his legs around and stood up. He yawned and squated down to get his suitcase from the bottom of his bunk. He pulled it out and opened it up.
Deciding what to wear, Scott pulled out a nicely folded [by Clint] Roots t shirt and a pair of jeans. He put them on quickly, anxiously wanting to go outside and check on Kel.
Once he had shoes and socks on and his hair was combed, he hurried down the bus steps and outside. Before he saw, he heard Sheila and Kel chatting while putting the tent away.
When he went around the front he saw his step mom and Kel just finishing up. "Hello ladies." He said cutely.
Sheila smiled and Kel turned from having her back to him.
"Um, Sheila. Could I talk to Kel alone?" Scott asked. Sheila smiled and nodded, heading back on the bus.
