Kel and Scott looked at Bob and Lauren in awe. They had no idea what was going on. Lauren probably should have been extremely excited and nervous to be around two Moffatts but she wasn't concerned about that right now.
Scott questioned Bob. "What is your problem? She's not yours!" Scott said, pretty much answering his own question.
Bob got upset. "Just stop!" He said, acting childish.
Then Kel questioned Lauren. "Oh, Lauren, please don't be upset! There was nothing I could do about it! You have to understand! We ARE friends! Nothing could ever change that, especially a guy!" Kel pleaded.
"That's what I thought, but Scott Moffatt!" Lauren said and then realized what she said and who she was in the presence of. "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh." She started to say and put her hand up to her mouth, taking a few steps back. Lauren's eyes jumped from Scott to Bob, Bob to Scott.
Scott looked annoyingly at Lauren. "Are you okay?" He asked.
Noticeably, Lauren regained her posture and acted sophisticated even though thoughts were screaming in her mind. Not focusing on Scott and Bob anymore, Lauren looked at Kel. "I don't like you and Scott being together. If you want to save our friendship, end it now." Lauren said and turned to walk away.
Kel knew what she had to do. She had known Lauren since they were extremely little, and Scott only one night. She looked at Lauren, walking away. "Lauren!" Kel called after her friend. Lauren turned around. LS had been following her and turned around too.
Kel looked at her friend's discouraged face, then at Bob's. Then she looked at Scott, whom she really wanted to be with. Kel wanted to cry. She had been causing problems between Scott and Bob and she knew it. By being with Scott she hurt her best friend. But being with him was one of the best times of her life. She knew she had to break it off.
"Lauren...wait." Kel said and took Scott's arm and pulled him away from the other three.
Scott knew what was coming, but refused to believe it.
"Scott..." Kel started, not being able to look in his eyes. "I...I...I can't do that to Bob and Lauren. I know how they feel. I...we...I can't go to Boston with you and I think it would be best if I just stay a fan, and nothing more." Kel said and the looked up at Scott. He looked more angry than sad.
Scott nodded. Kel didn't want him to be upset. She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek, touched his hand and returned to Lauren, as Scott walked in a trance back to the bus. Kel turned and waved slowly at Scott, but he didn't wave back. He was heading to the bus and not looking back, as if he had shared nothing with Kel.
Kel realized what she had just done and sulked. I just dumped Scott Moffatt Kel thought. She thought about the circumstances and wanted to cry. If Lauren was such a great friend why would she do that to her. Kel didn't know, but walked all the way home alone and it took her about an hour. She thought deeply all the way home. She wondered if she had made the right choice.
