"Come on, Julie. You know we're wrong for each other." Mike answered.

Julie rolled her eyes. "What about the dance?" Julie asked, remember the dance coming that Friday night.

Mike was silent for a moment. "I'm thinking of taking Linda VanHeule." Mike replied when he finally spoke.

"Linda? You're dumping me for Linda?" Julie asked, surprised and angry. "She's a slut!" Julie demanded.

"Oh, get over it, Julie." Mike said annoyed. Linda was the most perfect girl at BMHS. Definately not a slut and the most likable girl you'd ever meet.

"I'm hurt, Mike. What's Linda got that I haven't?" Julie asked; her feeling were hurt.

"I don't want to talk about this, Julie. Not right now. I gotta call Linda. See ya later." Mike said and hung up.

Julie wanted to cry. She fought the tears, insisting she would get over Mike.

Just then, startling Julie and her puppy laying on her bed, Julie's phone rang. Julie grabbed for the phone, hoping silently it was Mike, calling to say he was sorry.

It wasn't. "Hello?" Julie said impatiently.

A sweet voice answered Julie. "Hey, Jules. What's up?" It was Julie's best friend, Ashley Whitaker.

Julie's face dropped. "Hey Ash. You don't want to know what's up."

Ashley got worried. She noticed the sad sound in Julie's voice. "Julie, tell me. Please."

"Mike just dumped me." Julie kind of whispered.

Ashley was extremely surprised. "You're kidding, right?" Mike was so nice and friendly that Ashley couldn't imagine him dumping Julie who was a really cute girl.

"No, I'm NOT kidding. He was just like 'I'm gonna go the dance with Linda' and I was like "What the heck?" It was bad." Julie informed.

"Oh. Well I called because I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to the Moffatts concert in Boston." Ashley offered.

"I don't really think so, Ash. I mean, 'The Moffatts'? What kind of name is that?" Julie asked.

Ashley felt insulted, but she still needed someone to go with her. "Please Julie. I really want you to come with me or I have to go alone. It only cost $11 because its like some charity thing. Please Julie!" Ashley begged.

Julie had pity on her friend. "Alright, alright. I'll go." Julie gave in. "And these 'Moffatts'; are they cute?" Julie asked.

Ashley grinned a grin Julie couldn't see. "Oh yes."
