chapter thirty-two

Scott laughed at the audience in front of him. What a cool job he had, and he knew it.

Bob put his head back and closed his eyes as Scott prepared to say goodnight to the fans. He scratched corner of his eye and held his drumsticks in one hand. He looked again at his brother smiling and laughing at the audience.

Clint smiled and looked back at Bob, who was watching Scott.

Dave bent at the knees in order to reflow the blood to his legs. He had to admit he had enjoyed playing that concert.

But it wasn't over yet. They had to do an autograph line.

"Goodnight! Thank for coming!" Scott said into the microphone. That was the other guys' cue to leave the stage. Bob stood up and walked in the direction of his brothers.

Once backstage, Sheila patted them on the backs and congratulated them for yet another great show. The guys smiled and headed back to their dressing room. There were two; one for Clint and Scott, and one for Dave and Bob.

"Hurry up now guys, we have an autograph line in five minutes. Hussle hussle!" Sheila instructed as the sweaty guys disappeared into the dressing rooms. Frank passed his wife in the hall and they exchanged sympathetic glances. Frank kissed Sheila on the cheek and continued on his way.

Inside their dressing room, Clint and Scott changed quickly. Clint was fine with it, because his suitcase was in tip-top shape, but Scott was frantic. He pounded on the door connecting their dressing room to the other guys'. Bob opened the door quickly in boxers.

"We don't have any more time than you do, Scott!" Bob yelled at his brother.

"I know, I know. Scott entered the other dressing room to find Dave jumping and pulling on his pants in a hurry. Scott rummaged through Bob's suitcase as Bob went back to his orange and black shirt he was starting to put on.

Scott picked out a gray shirt and slipped it over his head. Bob rolled his eyes as he pulled on some shorts and then socks.

Scott said thanks and went back into his own dressing room. Clint was messing with his hair.

"I think we used a little too much bl..." Clint started. Sheila burst into the room, not caring much whether the guys were undressed or not. Luckily, Scott had just finished dressing himself when she walked in.

"Guys! Hurry it up! It's time NOW!" Sheila insisted. Clint hurried over to the door and Scott followed. The two hurried to an open door where they could see fans waiting behind a table.

Soon, Clint, Scott, Dave, and Bob were all being seated behind a long table. On one end was merchandise and the guys were at the other end. Bob opened and closed his hand numerous times, "getting his signing hand ready for battle". Scott leaned back in his seat and looked at the growing line. Dave smiled cheerfully and got ready to sign tons of autographs. Clint put on a smile but knew that by the end of the night he'd hate his name; from writing it so many times.

An Hour Later

Scott groaned. He was tired and miserable. He had signed his name numerous times and was ready to collapse when he saw her. He couldn't stop looking at her. It was that girl from the audience. She looked even better up close. His mouth went dry.

Say something, idiot! Scott yelled at himself in his mind. She was better looking that Kel, which Scott thought was impossible. He hoped he would get to meet her later.
