chapter thirty-seven

EVERYONE

Scott, Dave, Clint, and Bob all jumped up in their bunks, startled. They had definately not expected that. Scott was the first one to speak up.

"What the....!!!!" Scott yelled as he looked at his brothers who were, by now, all sitting up in their bunks. The guys then noticed the fans standing at the front of the bunk area.

"WHO ARE YOU!?!" Clint demanded.

"I...uh...we...I..." Julie stuttered. Ashley didn't help her out any by staring at the guys. Julie wasn't nervous that much, it was more embarrassment.

"Well??" Dave asked, waiting for an answer.

Julie was so embarrassed she could hardly move. Ashley remained silent.

Scott stopped being mad and sympathized when he realized this was the girl that must have tripped him. "Were you the one out there that tripped me?" Scott asked politely. He started to get out of bed, but realized he was only in boxers and pulled the covers back over him.

"Yeah," Julie admitted. Now she was even more embarrassed. "I'm really sorry."

Scott reached his arm underneat his bed to wear some pants were and pulled them out. Underneath the covers, Scott put them on while the girls talked with Bob.

"Why were you out there?" Bob asked. He wasn't mad, just curious.

"It's stupid, really." Julie said and looked at the ground and then back at Bob. "We just got autographs and we were on such a Moffatt high* that we just went out the wrong door, I guess. And it was locked so we couldn't get back in. So we sat down and..."

Bob nodded. "I'm sorry about the inconvenience." Bob said, trying to act professional.

Scott had his pants on now and stood up out of the bed. He had no shirt on, but he didn't care. The girls certainly didn't mind. "Well..." Scott said, thinking, as he put his hands on his hips. "My dad and stepmom should be here soon and they can get you back in and out to the right spot. "I'm sure whoever was supposed to pick you up is worried." Scott said.

Julie thought about Ashley's mom waiting and worrying outside of the building. She was sure they would hear no end of grief from her once they got back. Then Ashley perked up.

"Do you guys have a phone in here?" Ashley asked.

"Yeah, we do, why?" Bob answered.

"My mom has a car phone in her car. She was supposed to pick up me and Julie and if you have a phone we can call her." Ashley said.

Julie let out a sigh of breath. She was glad Ashley had thought of that. Scott leaned and opened a cupboard that was right next to the girls next to the refrigerator. Inside the girls could see a phone in the wall.

Ashley smiled as Scott backed up to let her use it. She carefully lifted the receiver off its hook and dialed her mom's car phone number. She listened. It didn't even have time to ring. Her mother quickly picked up the phone and in a rush almost yelled.

"HELLO?!?" Mrs. Ryan said loudly and quickly.

"Hey mom, it's Ashley." Ashley said.

The guys and Julie could all hear what Mrs. Ryan was saying because she was talking so loud.

"ASHLEY MARIE RYAN WHERE ARE YOU!!!" Mrs. Ryan yelled.
