"Here's the deal," Sheila started. Julie and Ashley were listening to every word Sheila said carefully. "I spoke with Ashley's mom and she said that she is late to her third shift job. So..." Sheila left them hanging.
Just as Sheila paused, the first curtain was pushed open and Frank appeared behind Sheila. He was midsentence when he saw the girls. "Ok, guys. Here's the thing. Muskegon and Detroit cancelled so it looks like..." He stopped and examined the situation. Sheila could see the look on her husband's face.
"Frank, this is Juliet and Ashley. They got stuck out here. The doors were locked and..." Sheila smiled half-heartedly and touched her husband's shoulder. "Come here, honey." She said and guided Frank off the bus and outside.
When the door was closed, Ashley and Julie looked worriedly at Bob, Clint, Scott and Dave. "Is your dad going to be mad?" Ashley asked.
None of the Moffatt brothers spoke for awhile. Then Scott spoke. "Well...I don't know. He's weird about these things."
The girls looked at their laps and didn't say anything.
After awhile, Sheila and Frank reappeared in the room where the teens sat silently. Frank had his arms crossed in front of his chest and Sheila was fiddling with her hands. This is it. No more Moffatts for us.Julie thought to herself.
"Julie, Ashley. We've decided it is completely okay with us if you stay with us tonight. Muskegon and Detroit both cancelled so it looks like our vacation is starting early. You girls can stay with us tonight and we'll be happy to take you home tomorrow." Sheila said.
Julie and Ashley found it hard to hide their excitement but managed to only squeak out, "Ok. Thanks."
Sheila nodded and started to pull her husband away. Then she turned back to the six teens. "Oh! We're going to sleep in the Centre tonight. They have nice state rooms so, we'll be inside if you need us. You guys sleep tight." Sheila said and guided a silent Frank off the bus.
The guys and girls heard the door shut and they each let out a sigh. Clint didn't waste any time.
"Alright, Julie...Where were we?" Clint asked as soon as the door was shut. Ashley giggled and looked at Julie. She looked as though she was going to cry.
"What's the matter, Juliet?" Ashley asked, concerned.
Julie smiled and looked at her friend. "I don't know. I'm being all emotional and I have no idea why."
Scott smiled and leaned over to Julie. He hugged her and kissed her cheek. Julie was startled. She definately wasn't ready for that.
Scott leaned back to his seat and then stood up. "Enough of this game, let's get ready for bed I'm pooped." Scott announced.
