Scott leaned against the wall helped encase his bunk and closed his eyes. All of his brothers were mad at him and he wondered why he did that to girls. He put them in situations and he knew it.
Outside the bunk, he could hear Shiela humming softly. He decided he should probably talk to her. "Sheila?" Scott said quietly. The rest of the family was back in the TV room with the volume blaring. Sheila looked at Scott, who looked concerned.
"Are you okay, Scott?" Sheila said and took a place next to Scott's bunk. She looked over at her stepson.
"Sheila...girls...they don't like to be rushed, do they?" Scott asked in all seriousness.
Sheila cracked a smile. "No, Scott they don't." Then her face went back to serious. "Scott what happened with Kellyn and then Julie? You didn't...??"
Scott looked at his hands and nervously picked at his jeans. "I didn't do anything really, I just...kind of rushed Julie and I didn't think that I was doing anything...I mean..."
"Is this why your brothers are staying away from you and the girls were gone when we came back?"
Scott nodded. Sheila continued. "I didn't want to ask because I knew something was up. Now I understand." Sheila paused and then continued again. "Scott, you don't have time for a girlfriend right now, but I guess I can't blame you. Your father does not realize what is happening, and I know this because he talks about you guys having millions of girls and why can't you just put relationships on hold..."
"It's not the same!" Scott interrupted.
Sheila nodded. "I know, I know. He doesnt understand because he never went through it himself."
"I know. He says he understands but he doesn't."
"Scott, don't worry about it. I'll talk to him about, ok?" Sheila said and patted Scott's knee.
"Okay. Thanks."
Sheila went to turn away and turned back. "And I'll make sure you get to see Kellyn, alright?" Scott smiled and Sheila did too.
