Mr. Archer stood back and looked at his daughter. "Kellyn..."
"You don't have to explain." Kel said, annoyed, and leaned against the car.
"Kellyn..." Mrs. Archer warned with her voice.
"Get real, Mom. There's obviously something he wants." Kel said and then looked at her dad. Did Barbie leave you or something??" Kel asked harshly.
"No, Kellyn, Barbara did NOT leave me. In fact she's in the room already." Mr. Archer informed.
Kel saw her mom start to get red in the face. Then it dawned on Kel; her mom had come to Boston in hopes of getting back together with her father. Kel kind of felt bad for her mom. But it was her dad's fault.
"You know what, we really have a lot to do..." Mrs. Archer started to make excuses. Kel saw this as her chance to escape.
"Yeah, better things." Kel said and turned away. She started to walk back to the passenger side of the car and then turned back to watch her mom.
"Well..." Mrs. Archer said and put her hands up. "It was good..you know...seeing you again. Goodbye."
Mr. Archer watched as the two girls he wanted to be with got ready to leave him. He finally understood what it felt like. Barbara was not in the hotel room. She had left him for a richer man and broke Mr. Archer's heart. That had been the first time he understood. This was the second. He couldn't let them go again.
He listened as the engine started and then went and lightly tapped on Mrs. Archer's window. When she rolled it down, he said lightly, "Give me another chance."
Kel rolled her eyes but her mom started to tear up. Kel couldnt keep quiet. "Mom, stop being so d--- emotional!" Kel said. "Remember what HE put US through? He deserves the same."
Mrs. Archer looked from Kel to her ex-husband. Then from her ex-husband back at Kel. She didnt know what to do. "We'll stay. But only for a few hours." Mrs. Archer said.
Kel sighed and rolled her eyes. "This is crazy. I could be at home talking to the..." Kel got a weird feeling. She had no idea why she just almost said she would be talking to the Moffatts. She knew they had shows in Michigan and they were nowhere near Billerica but she couldn't push the thought out of her mind.
