The Donots
pop punk from Germany |
my opinion: |
These punk rockers
from Münster might be the best pop punk band
from Germany. Their music is comparable to Travoltas and Blink 182. Catchy,
direct, short, energetic pop songs, everything
you'd expect from pop punk.
After a year of
hard work and intensive touring (around 120 gigs
in one year!), The Donots are experiencing a breakthrough in their home country,
and are aiming for an international breakthrough.
After their first big release ("Better Days
Not Included", 1999) a renowned producer was
attracted to produce their second album: Fabio
Trentini. The same person who produced Guano
Apes' second album "Don't Give Me
Names".
On the album,
"Pocketrock" (2001) the band show to
have matured since their first years. In those
early days in the mid-90s, they let their name
speak for itself by breaking the golden rule of
music: do not play cover songs you play half
decently. They turned out pretty good though...
