...ON OTHERS

·        [ON SUPERGRASS] They are similar to us in a sense that they made many first mistakes and are now trying to get respect. Kind of like us during ‘The Bends’ era. Our current favourite album from them is ‘In It for the Money.’

·       [ON COLIN] He's very strong-minded and astute. He's downloaded a library

·       [ON JONNY] He likes having as many instruments as possible in his corner

·        [ON MOMS] Our moms usually get together every Sunday and smoke grass.

·        [ON RADIOHEAD FANS] Our fans are….urm….nice people

·        [ON MICHAEL STIPE] He was a huge influence. I thought, “Who is this guy rambling on and on and I can’t make out any of the words?’ I want to do that.

·        [ON REM]  What REM gave us was a sense that you can be as emotional as you like in what you do. That’s what it’s about. It was extraordinarily good therapy.

·        [ON OTHER BANDS] Other bands really wind me up. I’m very competitive and antagonistic. I just hate meeting other bands. The British scene is so insular, so petty and so fucking bitchy I just don’t want to have any contact with it. That’s why we’re never moved to London. If we did, that would be it. We’d last a month and then split up.

·        [ON COLIN] Colin’s great at talking to people when no one else will. He’s out secret weapon. We wheel him out and he just doesn’t shut up for half an hour. I can’t even smile when all I want to do is punch someone in the face. Colin could smile while sticking a knife in your stomach. That’s a huge compliment, by the way.
