~Chapter 5~ After the show AJ gathered his things from off the bus and went into the hotel that the guys where going to stay in that night. He wasn't planning on staying there, he was just going to say bye before the cab came to pick him up. There was no other way home than to take a cab so he really didn't care as long as he was home. The guys where doing their last show in Orlando and he could have gotten a ride with them but he had this feeling that he really needed to be home. He said all his good-byes and walked out the back of the hotel where he told the cab to be. He knew their were fans in the lobby and didn't want to deal with them. The cab driver put his things in the trunk and they where on their way to Orlando. ---------- "I'm going to call an ambulance for you." The woman said as she got out of her car. She got on her cell phone and dialed 911. "Yes there's a girl here who looks like she's been beaten." She took Melissa's hand and led her to her car. She opened the door and had Melissa sit inside and she closed it again. Before the woman got in on the other side she shut off her phone. "Don't you worry help is on the way." the woman said. "I would take you myself but I don't know where a thing is. What's your name?" "Melissa." she replied. "Hi I'm Jen. How long have you been in those woods?" "I'm not sure really." she answered. "I'm not sure of anything. I don't even know who I am." "You must have been out there quite some time by the looks of you." Jen said looking her over. "Oh my your arm. The bone is almost sticking through your skin." Melissa looked down at her black and blue arm and noticed a huge lump. She didn't want to look at it. It seemed to make her arm feel even worse. Neither of them talked after that. It was just pure silence. Melissa felt uneasy just sitting there. She was afraid whoever it was that had captured her, would come running out of the woods and pull her out of the car. She heard the ambulance siren. Finally someone to take care of her and keep her safe. The ambulance pulled up behind the car. "Well I hope you feel better and I hope whatever happened to you doesn't happen again." said Jen with concern in her eyes. The paramedics opened the passenger side door and easily laid her down on the stretcher and wheeled her into the back of the ambulance. She was so happy to be away. ~Chapter 6~ AJ got out of the cab, got his bags and jogged to his front door and went inside. When AJ got in the house he dropped his things, found his car keys and went right back outside again to go to Melissa’s house. He still couldn’t shake off that bad feeling. He knew that something was wrong. He’s been having those feelings for quite some time now. Ten minutes later he pulled into the parking lot of the apartment. He got out and looked around to see if her car was there. There it was in the back corner where she usually parks it. Now he had some chance of her being home but seeing her car didn’t make him feel any better. ---------- Melissa opened her eyes and saw she was in a hospital bed. A big rush of relief went through her. Out of nowhere there was a flash of light in her eyes. She looked up and saw that it was a doctor looking at her eyes while using a little flashlight. “Well it’s nice to see that you’re finally coming around. Do you have any idea who you are?” he asked. “My name is Melissa. Well I think it is.” She choked out. “Ok do you know where you are?” He asked. Now he was taking her blood pressure. “The hospital. A woman called for help on the side a road. I hardly remember anything.” “Well Melissa you have been through a lot.” He said while looking at a clipboard. You have a total of seventy-five stitches, you have many deep wounds and bruises. You needed surgery on your knee and we did that last night. You also have a broken wrist.” “How long have I been here?” she asked. “Three days. You’ve been out the whole time. We found an identification card in your back pocket and we managed to find someone in the area that can take care of you when you can go home. There’s a police officer who would like to talk to you and ask you a few questions.” A man walked inside and stood next to the doctor. “Hi I’m Officer Sanders.” Said the officer. “I’ll leave you two alone.” Said the doctor and left. “I’d like to ask you a few questions if you don’t mind.” Said Officer Sanders. “All right.” “Do you remember how this all happened to you?” “All I remember is running out of a house and through the woods trying to find someone to help me. Someone had been keeping me in his basement. I don’t know how long I was in there. I don’t even remember how long I was in there. Or where I was for that matter. And I have no idea as to who I am.” “Well there’s a few things I can tell you that might help clear up a few things. We found your drivers license in your back pocket. Your name is Melissa Lewis. You’re 22 years old and you live in Orlando Florida. You had a piece of paper stuck to the card that had a phone number of a friend in case of an emergency. Her name is Alex and she’s on her way here right now. She said that you’ve been missing for two months. You’re in Grand Rapids Michigan right now. She says you’re originally from here. Do you know who might have taken you?” “There’s this guy. I don’t exactly know who he is since I can’t remember anything. But when I was running in the woods, he was yelling things to me saying that he loves me and he’s only doing it to protect me. I’m sure he knows me but I just can’t think of who he is.” She said. Tears rolled down her cheeks just thinking about it. She hoped she’d never have to see him again. ~Chapter 7~ “Flight 140 to Grand Rapids Michigan is now ready to board.” Alex picked up her carry on bag and walked to the gate. She was so worried about Melissa. She didn’t even think about calling anyone else to let them know what had happened to her. She was so caught up in all of this wondering who would do such a thing. She mindlessly gave the lady at the gate her ticket and went through the door to get on the plane. A few minutes later she had found her seat by a window and sat down and closed her eyes still trying to think of who would do such a horrible thing. She waited a half-hour and still there was no take off. She was beginning to wonder what was wrong. “Lady’s and gentlemen we’re sorry to inform you that we will not be taking off do to technical difficulties. There will be a four-hour delay, we are waiting for another plane from Chicago to come in. Alex sighed and got up along with everyone else to get off the plane. She was just going to have to wait even longer to get to her best friend and she felt horrible. ---------- AJ spent most of his time sleeping at Melissa’s apartment, hoping that she would walk through the door and he would see that she was ok. Two days passed and nothing happened. During the day he spent all of his time calling people to see if they had seen her. He had no such luck. Not even the police would help him out. ---------- Alex sat in the airport waiting to board the plane. It had to have been the worst luck she’d ever been in. The plane that was supposed to come for her never did and the flight was pushed back to two days later and there wasn’t another flight open. She would be flying free for all the troubles but she would rather pay $5,000 just to get to Melissa. She had to see for herself that she was ok. Alex got up to go to a payphone to call AJ’s house. She had been trying to call him for the past two days and never could reach him. She left millions of messages and he never called her back. She was beginning to wonder if he even went home at all. ---------- “Well today’s your lucky day. We’re going to let you go home. But your friend Alex isn’t going to be able to take you home. She had a family problem so your brother John is going to have you stay with him for a few days.” Dr. Peterson said while taking out Melissa’s IV. “Brother?” she asked. “Yes. He’s waiting outside. He said he was away on a business trip and he wasn’t able to visit you at all.” “Oh.” Was all her response was. She couldn’t help but feel uneasy. She didn’t have much of a memory but the thought of her having a brother didn’t sound to right. ---------- “Sorry if the place is such a mess.” John said as he opened the door to his apartment. “I haven’t had much of a chance to clean up.” Melissa made her way inside on her crutches and sat down on the couch in the living room. John went into the kitchen and got some water to give to Melissa along with some pills. “Here. It’s for your knee.” He said. “Make yourself comfortable, I just have to make a few phone calls.” She took the medication and soon she fell asleep. ~Chapter 8~ *Four Hours Later* Alex had finally gotten to the hospital. She was given Melissa’s room number so she just went to her room. She stopped before she even looked inside the room, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Finally she started walking again and walked inside the room to find it empty. Her eyes widened and she went back into the hall and bumped into a doctor. “Can I help you?” he asked. “What happened to the girl in that room?” she asked trying to keep calm. “Ms. Lewis? Why her brother came and took her home.” He answered. “Wait a minute. Brother? She doesn’t have a brother! You could have just sent her back into the hell hole she was just in!!” ---------- AJ went home to try and clear his mind a little bit. It was hard for him to stay in Melissa’s apartment any longer. He was just so worried about her. The phone rang right when he walked in the door. He ran to get it hoping it was something about her. He clicked on the phone. “Hello?” “Hello is this AJ?” an unfamiliar voice came. “Yes. Who is this?” “I’m Melissa’s friend Sam. I’m really sorry that I have to tell you this.” He stopped talking for a minute. “What. What is it? Is she ok?” “I’m sorry. She was in a car accident and she didn’t make it.” AJ dropped the phone and slid down to the floor with his back against the wall. He started to cry. He buried his head in his hands and sobbed. ---------- “How can you people be so stupid!” Alex yelled out in anger. “You were supposed to protect her!!” She was now in the police station in a small room with Officer Sander and another police officer, Officer Mertin. “Before we can help your friend we need you to calm down.” Officer Sander said calmly. “Now do you have any idea who could have taken her? Anyone have any problems with her? Enemies?” “There’s one.” She answered. “But I don’t think you’d be able to find him.” “It’s worth a shot. Anything right now is worth it.” “His name is Jacob. He was totally infatuated with Melissa. But he moved somewhere in California. So it can’t possibly be him. Other than that I have no idea.” She paused for a moment. “Can I use your phone?” “Yes go ahead.” Answered Officer Sander. Chapters 9-12 Chapters 1-4 Back to Fanfic Back to Main Page |
