Another mid-month gig in Glasgow, another bunch of young hopefuls, must be another Upstarts. The Miracle Pills are a band with big ideas, and a variety of styles which they'll need to hone down. They use samplers to great effect, and these songs are best, kinda like Mercury Rev or Flaming Lips. Maybe they should get Dave Friddman to produce them? They also have a few songs which are more bog-standard indie fare though lyrically interesting, like 'r.d.r.r' which is about geting dumped by your girlfriend "during the physical act of love". Ahem. There's also 'War' which to be fair should perhaps be spelled "WOAAARGH!!!!. due to its death-metal feel. Like I said, diversity is the Pill's watchword.
