Jarmaine Jackson
born on 11 December 1954
He's talented soul singer with a bit old fashion Marlong Gaye-like style, sounds best in ballads. He also co-writes some of songs he preformes. Being second voice in Jacksons Five; Jarmaine stared solo carrier at Motown, but Berry Gordy - boss of the label didn't let him spread wings. None of his nine albums from those times was success. He left Motown for Arista in 1983. Arista gave him a chance to work with great musician and released his best albums: "Dynamite" (1984), "Don't take it personally" (1989) and "You said" (1991). Although "Dynamite" happended to be his best known album, mainly because of duets with Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, but it was just first step to develop his style. Best duet with Whitney -"Nobody loves me (like you do)" is not featured on this album anyway. "Don't take it personally"- the most mature album is his best work so far. (Sample from "Don't take it personally" can be heard on Monica's "Don't take it personally" remix - "Miss thang" album). Even though Jermaine is an excelent singer he never was a charismatic person and always stayed in a shadow of his more excentric sibings - Michael, Janet and La Toya. Not able to be as famous as them he's as good bussinessman as them, he co-ordinated a few projects based on family fame - among them TV-serie about The Jacksons family. His latest album "You said" produced with help of Babyface was useles efford to catch up to teenage culture. Even though some songs were good and well preformed they just didn't fit him. Excpecting teenage audience to accept preformer who don't dance and look quite average was a bit of misunderstanding. For older audience album with too much of electronic beats wasn't well suited. This album is just average but still nice to listen mainly because of his voice. You can also hear voices of Babyface and members of TLC there. Sadly after comerciall crap of this album Arista drop Jarmaine out.
