August 1995- No Way Out took to the stage in the annual Al’s Garage Band Bash and finished a disappointing 5th. This could be attributed to the fact that the band was the first to take the stage, and by the time the judges got around to voting they had forgotten the performance and its merits. Although this was a disappointing finish, the band was encouraged by the crowd support they received and was impressed by many of the bands, including Capitol Punishment.
August 1995- The band makes a momentous road trip up to Duluth to play a nearly three hour show in the historic town. The show was part of a skateboard rally which showcased some of the Duluth area’s finest skateboarders. The band received no money for the show, except in donations and shirt sales, but it was a show that increased their fan base, and allowed them to debut some of their new punk covers.
January 1996- In a move that many considered would give the band a new direction, the four original members of the band decided to go back to their roots, and cut accordionist Kyhl Lydngaard from the band. Citing musical differences, and the need for a new direction in their music, No Way Out came to the painful conclusion that they would have to go their own separate ways. The band would like to thank Kyhl for his understanding of the situation, and they wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
January 1996- No Way Out performs at the Java Joint, playing a solid all around show that had the audience rocking. The band debuted some very impressive cover and original songs, songs that are sure to be solid staples in the No Way Out repertoire of the future. The St. Cloud coffeehouse has been instrumental in allowing bands of No Way Out’s stature to gain some recognition, and the band plans on playing a few more gigs there in the future.
May 1996- No Way Out performs in a University of Minnesota-Morris band contest and places second place, just a fraction of a point out of first. Their solid showing not only earned them a cash prize, but they were able to be recognized as the campus’ finest punk band. The show also saw the band debut their cover of the raucous Pour Some Sugar On Me, a Def Leppard cover punked up, and an original, Loose Cannon, which is sure to be one of No Way Out’s most popular songs.
July 17th, 1996- The band signs up to again compete in Al’s garage band bash. The band plans on performing well at the show, and hopefully taking home the first prize. Based on last years disappointing performance, the band has decided to go all out and have been rehearsing as often as possible in order to make their music as tight as can be. Expect songs like Meat and Potatoes, Loose Cannon, Pour Some Sugar On Me, and others to be among the list of songs played. The show takes place August 24 behind Al’s music.
