This collection
of 1960s single-sides containes some gems from those times when
Laurel
Aitken and Rico met regularly
in one of London's studios. "This Great Day" offers one of Rico's
wonderful t-bone solos, as well as "Jenny Jenny" does.

Note:
Without any exception, the master
tapes of the singles on this album vanished long ago. Selecting and remastering
the best vinyl copies available has still regretfully left the album with
some unavoidable background noises.
Linernotes
Laurel Aitken, the man that puts
Boogie in your Bones, has rocked the world with his inspired Ska and Blue
Beat Shuffle from the late fifties on. This selection features a number
of his singles, released in the bracket from 1963 to 1966 on the British
labels Blue Beat, Rio, R&B, Dice, Ska Beat, Giant and Island Records.
21 musical gems that will not fail
to make you move your feet and keep your party going. Heavy Ska tunes with
strong melodic tendencies to Calypso and the ever popular "Yankee-Music",
i.e. Boogie and Rhythm and Blues. Besides a few Jamaican "King Edwards"
productions, the major part of these songs were recorded in the United
Kingdom, nearly all of them produced by the Originator himself.
But now it's time to shut the chatter
and spin the platter - here comes the Godfather, making you an offer that
you can't refuse:
Shake, shake, shake,
Shake your body line
Shake, sheke, shake,
Shake it just in time.
Dr. Ring-Ding, January 2000
