Some Notes on this Site

This site started in December 1999. It developed slowly with many interruptions as I'm doing it beside my professional work.

It is not a "designer site" but a text oriented site. We want to give informations, no effects (what we can't do, as we have neither time nor are we professional webdesigners). We use the technical possiblities of links as much as possible so that the reader can always hope for background informations on a theme. It's something like a dynamic encyclopedia (but in its earliest days of life! - still after three years of operation).

We recommend to surf quickly over the pages and read them off-line or to download them. Also, we tried to make them readable in a printed version. So, usually we use dark colours for text.

There is a principal structure that starts with Rico's Music as the "coverpage". From there you reach either Rico's "HomePage" with an introduction to his musical biography or to the index page.

As the Site is dedicated to Rico Rodriguez everything starts with him:

There are three central pages:
"Rico - Home": as mentioned above the introduction to the man and his music (actually as a simple chronology); as we mention other musicians we try to inform on them. There are links to their "homepages" ...
"Rico - Disco": his discography; as far as posssible the recordings mentioned are linked with pages with detailed informations on the specific record and/or tracks/pieces
"Rico - Biblio": a bibliography on books, artiicles etc. and websites; there are, as far as we transcribed the texts links to pages where you find these sources online on our site or as far as identified links to other sites, where you can find the quoted text.

As far as possible we try to develop the informations on artists related to Rico in the same way. But as you know he played with hundreds of musicians and groups ... this will be work until the end of the next century. And if you think of a 2nd line of relationships it will cover the whole Reggae and Rock history. (e.g. Rico participated in Jazz Jamaica > their founding member was Gary Crosby who played in the 1980s with an Jazz orchestra, the Jazz Warriors > their central figur was, besides gary Crosby, Courtney Pine ...)

The index page tries to help finding direct links to the various artist's pages on this site as well as links to other, mostly related websites.

At the bottom of every page you find links to the three central pages of the artist (or two if you are on one such page) as well as a link to the cover page of our site and one to the index from where you can continue to surf this site.

We hope you enjoy to be here.

Since the beginning I wanted to put more on the web on other artists, mainly some from the African continent. I'm now beginning to develop these sides under the headline A WOMAD Soul. I've already prepared a lot, bit to upload all this takes a lot of time.
