The Legacy

by Ryan Punk Ass

#1...6/14/97...Tosh's House, San Leandro, CA w/ The B-Sides, and Wisconsin Hardcore Experience. Our first real show. We played last due to the fact that some friends hadn't showed up yet. Our bass player quit the band the day before the show so we played as a three piece.

#2...9/6/97...Vacaville Live Music Center, Vacaville, CA. w/ The KGB and The B-Sides. Our first show since Nick got back from camp. We tried to fool the audience by saying we were a Jamaican ska band and by playing a ton of ska songs at the beginning of our set. It didn't work. Our bass player at the time couldn't play due to his job.

#3...11/1/97...Camden Teen Center, San Jose, CA. w/ The B-Sides and Nowhere Fast. This was our first show with our rhythm guitarist, Tom (R.I.P) and bassist, Andy.

#4...11/15/97...Naoma's House, Berkeley, CA. w/ All Bets Off, The B-Sides, and Ten Times Fast. This was my last show with the band. Our bass player didn't show up and we played really shitty.

#5...6/13/98...Corrina's House, San Lorenzo, CA. A reunion show with all origional members! The first show in 8 months. We had new bassist Owen and rhythm guitarist Jesse, along with a set of mostly new songs.

#6...7/17/98...Nick's House, Berkeley, CA. w/ The B-Sides. We've been wanting to have a show at Nick's house for a long time. Finally we did. The only people there to see us was The B-Sides and Ryan Nothing's girlfriend. But...who cares.

#7...9/4/98...Fatty Mocha, Merced, CA. w/ Vegas Preachers, and Napolean Blownapart. We played second. This show was our best ever. We had tons of energy. So much energy that Ryan Nothing got so tired that he didn't sing much of the words to any of the songs. We brought tons of friends and they all had a blast. We played very sloppy, but what we lacked in technical excellence, we made up for with stage presence.

#8...9/11/98...Fatty Mocha, Merced, CA. w/ The B-Sides, Vanishing Subs, the Noids. The Fatty Mocha liked us so much the first time, they had us back the next week! We didn't play as good though. Owen pretty much quit the band so Jesse had to play bass. Plus the Noids are idiots. Other than that it was still fun.

#9...1/10/99...Axis Records and Comics, Alameda, CA. w/ Moscones. I was really sick when we played so it sucked for me, and I'm afraid I might have let the band down. But, people there seemed to like us. This was our first show with new bass player Gabe. He did a good job. By the end of our set both me and Jesse were really out of tune. It sounded shitty. But...whatever. For our first show in like four months it was good.

#10...1/31/99...Club Cocodrie, San Francisco, CA. w/ Subincision, Model American, Mad Drama, Cell Block 5, some other bands. I guess this was our first show in a bar-type atmosphere. It went really well. Unfortunately I left all the cables for my amp at home and had to borrow one from Subincision. Other than that, the show was fine. We played good. During the break in "California Highway," me and Jesse put our guitars down and ran around in the audience, then got back up on stage and continued the song. It was cool.

#11...4/9/99...924 Gilman, Berkeley, CA. w/ Defiance, Hellbillys, the Riffs, Fracus. We opened. We played really shitty. The sound was horrible. We got payed $60! What a great show.

#12...6/4/99...Danville Grange, Danville, CA. w/ RWS, Antagony, Dislogistics, Inner Struggle. This show was a benifit for Amnesty International. Even though the sound was bad (like it always is at the Grange) it was a good show. We had our CDs to sell which was cool. We also had t-shirts for the first time. Not a bad show.

#13...7/31/99...Club Cocodrie, San Francisco, CA. w/ The Authority, crappy bands. We always play really good at Cocodrie even though the place sucks balls. We played an energetic set for a meager crowd of a few friends.

#14...8/29/99...Axis Records and Comics, Alameda, CA. We played by ourselves. The turnout wasn't as bad as I expected. It was fun.

#15...9/17/99...Josh's Kitchen, Berkeley, CA. w/ Scratchabit. We played in a kitchen. Ryan P.A., Gabe, and Nick were drunk. Nobody watched us play.

#16...9/26/99...Burnt Ramen Studios, Richmond, CA. w/ Plan 9, Subincision, the Jocks, The b-Sides, the Sidekicks, East Bay Grease, Spishak, Corrosive 8, Off Balance, plus more I think. We played good. It was fun. Very good show.

#17...10/29/99...Dania Hall, Livermore, CA. w/ Monster Squad, the Drips, Demonics, some shitty bands. This show started off good, but quickly went downhill. Despite electrical problems, we played anyway. At the end of the last song I went to adjust my mic and got a really bad shock. I had to go to the hospital. But I'm O.K.

#18...11/6/99...Long Haul, Berkeley, CA. w/ Monster Squad, Drips, Scratchabit. This show was pretty bad. We played really aweful. Ryan Nothing kept getting frustrated and not singing the songs for the first few songs. This show sucked.

#19...11/21/99...Club Cocodrie, San Francisco, CA. w/ 78 RPMs, Sidekicks, B4:20, THE BOZAKS, Off Balance, Minor Catastrophy. I don't know what it is, but we always play really good at the Cocodrie. I fucking hate the place, but we always rock ass there. Great show.

#20...12/30/99...Burnt Ramen Studios, Richmond, CA. w/ Jocks, Off Balance, Fleshies, bad joke bands. This show was fun. We played pretty good. That's about it.

#21...5/12/00...The Works, San Jose, CA. w/ Forgotten, Waste of Time, the Vex, 30 Second Fury, other bands. The show was good. We rocked the house. The only thing that sucked was that some drunk asshole kept fucking around with us. Otherwise, it was good.

#22...7/4/00...Club Cocodrie, San Francisco, CA. w/ ESL, Waste of Time, Toxic Narcotic, Akward Thought, other bands. Very good show. Great turn-out, good sound. Lots of fun.

#23...8/17/00...Club West, Eureka, CA. w/ Link 80, and A.D.D. The first and only date of our "Better Than Rick Tour 2000." We drove six hours to play this show and it was worth it. We had a blast. The kids loved us. It was perfect. Pictures and tour diarys coming soon!

#24...10/27/00...Brass Rail, Santa Clara, CA. w/ Riff Raff, Eyesores, plus bad bands. This was the worst show we have ever played. Very unorganized. We ended up playing last in front of only a couple of people. We played about six songs and then left. That's about it. The best part was when we raced these mail bins down the hall. It was fun.

#25...11/9/00...KRFH Cal State Humbolt, Arcata, CA. This was live on the radio. We played for an hour and told jokes and stuff. We are funny. A CD of the show coming soon!!!

#26...11/10/00...Somebody's House, Crescent City, CA. w/ Relapse and some other band. We were all drunk and played really shitty, but boy was it an amazing show!!! After our set we all got down and danced to rap music except Nick because he's too cool for that. I don't remember much after that except for throwing up.

#27...11/11/00...Vista, Eureka, CA. w/ The Last In Line, and ADD. If I wasn't so hung over this would have been a good show. I left midset to puke. Drinking sucks. Ben Allen is the devil.

#28...11/24/00...924 Gilman, Berkeley, CA. w/ Creep Division, F-Minus, Paris Texas. This show ROCKED. HARD. We played really well. I had fun. Yeah.

#29...2/23/01...924 Gilman, Berkeley, CA. w/ Subincision, 30 Second Fury, NCS, Stalin's War. Jesus Christ this show fucking rocked. Awesome show! We played great, the crowd loved us. Our best show to date.

#30...2/24/01...Pinole Playhouse, Pinole, CA. w/ Off Balance, other bands. This shows was OK. Not as excellent as the night before, but we still had fun. It's going to be hard to top the Gilman show the night before. But it was a cool place to play.

#31...3/3/01...Scooter's Pizza, Fremont, CA. w/ Moodfrye, NCS, some other band. When we found out that we had to play last, we figured that this show would really fucking suck. So, we decided to make things a bit more interesting with some Steel Reserve. When it came time to play, damn it was fun! Plus there was actually a good amount of people that stuck around!

#32...3/15/01...Burnt Ramen, Richmond, CA. w/ Relapse, XChromosome, Bozaks, and Nuts And Bolts. Well, I was surprised that people actually came. It was a pretty fun show. It was also the Bozaks last show. They will be missed. This show was also recorded for the first in a series of live albums to be released in limited quantities soon.

#33...3/18/01...Nick's House, Berkeley, CA. w/ Nuts and Bolts, SOL. What was a great show and a lot of fun was ruined when a bunch of asholes started fighting. Other than that, it was cool.

#34...3/31/01...Burnt Ramen, Richmond, CA. w/ For The Alliance, Monster Squad, Subincision, Throat Oyster, some other band. This show kind of sucked. We had to play last again which is shitty because everyone leaves before that, but otherwise the show was uneventful.

#35...4/20/01...Six Rivers Brewery, McKinleyville, CA. w/ Monkey, Last In Line. Though it was a really long drive, and the show was poorly attended, it was still fun. But it was more fun playing in the snow with Jesse and Donnie and going through the drive-thru tree.

#36...4/20/01...Kate Buchanan Room, Humboldt State, Arcata, CA. w/ a bunch of mostly terrible bands. This was a battle of the bands contest. Since we weren't local we could actually play a full set, but we got to play a four song set while the judges were tallying their votes. We rocked HARD! It was great. We should play four song sets more often.

#37...4/21/01...420 South Bascom, San Jose, CA. w/ Riff Raff, Los Vigilantes, Idle Disposition, some other band. This show was okay. We were all exhausted from driving back home all day, but we managed to do a good set. There was an AC/DC promotional bus down the street from the show and they gave us all free t-shirts. Score.

#38...5/4/01...Maui's Pizza, Rocklin, CA w/ Nuts and Bolts and metal rap bands. Lots of driving for a not too good show. Kind of really sucked.

#39...5/5/01...Vulcan Radio, 44th and San Leandro Blvd., Oakland. w/ Fracas, Monster Squad, Eddie Haskells. This show was good, but that damn video screen kept distracting me and Jesse. Oh well. Nothing special here.

#40...6/29/01...924 Gilman Street, Berkeley, CA. w/ Barfeeders, the Pac-Men, Hell After Dark, Maurice's Little Bastards, Fuck Yea! Avacado. This was pretty good. We played really well and had a good time. Afterwards we all went to our favorite diner Pring's in San Leandro and had fun and milkshakes and stuff.

#41...8/5/01...Tower Records, Dublin, CA. w/ Debris, Antagony, other bands. Good turnout, good sound. We played well. That basically makes it a good show. Except for dicking around too much at the end, this was fun.

#42...9/29/01...Luna's Auto Repair, San Jose, CA. w/ NCS, Stalin's War, Betray the Species. This was the first show with our new drummer Paul, and bassist Erik. They did really well for having only practiced with us once. As for the show, no one was there so that kind of sucked, but it was still OK.

#43...10/13/01...229 Park Street, Reno, NV. w/ Sons of Liberty, Acts of Martyr, A Moments Loss. This was a great show. Lots of people we there and they were dancing and singing along. After the show we stayed at the Hilton and ran around.

#44...12/2/01...Danville Grange Hall, Danville, CA. w/ All Bets Off, Scisorhands, Silent Film Stars, Lab Rats, other bands. This show wasn't too great. We just didn't play very well. Besides that, it was fine.

#45...12/14/01...the Shop, Sonoma, CA. w/ Tipper's Whore, The Associates, other bands. This show was pretty bad. Paul didn't show up so I played drums. After we finished and loaded all the equipment into the car, Paul comes walking up.

#46...12/21/01...Burnt Ramen, Richmond, CA. w/ Stalin's War, Delta Force, Silent Film Stars. Another nail in the coffin of AKA Nothing. Ryan didn't show up until half way through our set. Nothing much else to say. After this show we are most likely taking a permenent vaction from the band. It's been a fun five years. That's for sure!
