1)
Hi H.B. How are you?
Hhm, sorry, I am doing well, thank you for
asking, I just fighting a stubborn flu wich will
not leave me alone. (3rd week of coughing)
2) Well,
Scudiero has just released its first album. But
how were the band's beginnings up to this moment?
How long have you been playing together? Have the
other members played in other bands prior to
Scudiero?

In the
summer of 1994, Michael Dahlqvist (drums) and Jori
Helminen (bass) laid the foundation to what later became
Scudiero. After a couple of changes in the line-up, the
current setting emerged. Joined, in autumn 1996, Michael
Rosengren (keyboards) and myself on vocals. And now we
started to write songs and record demos and looking for a
good guitarist, on our first demo "Time Will
Tell" all guitars was played by Danne Palmqvist, on
our second demo "Silhouettes" all guitars was
played by Jori. We got very good reviews for our two
demos and finally caught the ear of Mark Alger at Z
Records. At the end of 1997 we found the guitarist we
have looked for, Fredrik Folkarefrom the swedish death
metal band Unleashed. And then a lot of effort has gone
into rewriting and rearranging a lot of the earlier stuff
as well as we wrote new material. We all have played in
several bands before Scudiero, I played for a couple of
years in "Fire & Ice", they are still
touring and playing "covers" but we did a
2-track CD in 1995 on a label called Azora Records.
3) I listen to
several different stuff in "Walking Through
Mirrors" from Melodic Rock to Prog. What are
Scudiero's sound major influences?
Oh, its hard to put the finger on what our major
influences are, we like sodifferent kinds of bands and
artists within the group, I personaly like the 70's
hardrock, Jazz, Soul, Blues, I can listen to anything
really, as long as it is good quality in the song with
good melodies. I have respect for all kinds of music, as
long as it make people happy. But if we talking about
"Walking Through Mirrors", I think we have
created are own sound
4) What is your
own opinion on the album?
Like I said before I think its hard for the
listener to put a label on us, I think that the frame
around the Mirror album is very wide (Hhm) Sorry, it is
like you said, from Melodic Rock to Prog but it is more
than that, if you get into the mirror album you can even
found pieces of jazz & blues in it.

"...from
Melodic Rock to Prog
but it is more than that..."
"...we
are dying to play live
anytime/anywhere."

5)
What about the whole recording process? How was
it?
It was fun, it took about 2 weeks
recording it and 1 week mixing it, and we had 3
great guys helping us with it, Göran Elmqvist,
Niklas Flyckt and Janne Anundi. 6) I think many
tunes where recorded some time before the
official release right?
No not really, we recorded the whole
album on these 2 weeks in October 1998.
|
7)
What are your hopes on this release?
That some people will get their eyes and minds opened for
Scudiero and that we will play live as much as possible
and then hopefully do a follow up album wich by the way
the songs are almost done for.
8) You have
recently signed a deal with a Japanes label? Which one
and what are your expectatives there?
This is relatively new, but the label is Marquee
Avalon and think it is a good label and I hope to give
you more details about it later.
9) I think
Scudiero's sound can be very successful in Japan?
Yeah, me too, we are gonna teach the Japanese
people how to "Keep on Scudding". Seriously I
think our Melodic Rock with details of Prog is what they
like. DreamTheatre and Queensryche is very popular so,
why not?
10)
What about touring...any chances to see the band live?
I really hope so, we love playing live, so far we haven't
booked anything but we will go to England in May and
Norway sometime in the summer, but if you want us play
live somewhere you can contact us directly or through Z
records for more information, we are dying to play live
anytime/anywhere.
11) You are
playing in the Z Rock in Wigan... What will you offer to
the audience there? is it your first gigg abroad?
Yes, its the first gig abroad for Scudiero, and
we are gonna get the audience what we always get our
audience, a good up-tempo show with songs from
"Walking Through Mirrors" and maybe 1 or 2 new
songs and we have a "surprise song" wich is a
secret.
12) To end, give
a piece of advice to all these fans that are hesitating
about buying the cd
If you like good melodic rock with heavy
instruments and great melodies "WalkingThrough
Mirrors" is a perfect album if you are having a
party or you are gonna drive a long way in your car or
when you are in the subway or when you are having a
romantic evening with your girlfriend/boyfriend or, yeah,
its a perfect album for anyone, anytime!!!!!!!
13) Well, thanks
a lot HB for your time... Hope to meet you someday in
"real"life.
Well, well, Roger, it's always a pleasure talking to you,
and I am sure we are gonna meet someday in
"real" life although I am a little
"unreal" for "real" ??????????. Thank
you and take good care of you and I'll see you soon and
remember "Keep on Scudding"
H.B.
