1)
Hi Bob! How are you?
Hello Roger mate, I'm great, I'm just about to
start rehearsing for the Gods of Rock in Wigan on
Saturday 20th. |
|
2)
You have just released "Legends" your
second solo album. What can you tell u of the
final result? Are you happy with it?
Me and Gary are very pleased
with the result, Garyıs done a great job on
production, we've got some great keyboards and
drum sounds and I'm very proud of the album and I
hope everyone enjoys it as much as me and Gary
enjoyed making it.3) Can I say
its abit of conceptual album where you talk about
very diverse people from Medusa to Elvis
Presley...
Yes I suppose you're right mate, the concept
being they are all about Legends, some ancient,
some modern, we've got Elvis Presley and Marilyn
Monroe from the same period, then you've got
Hydra and Medusa from Greek Mythology then
characters from books such as Emily Bronte's
"Wuthering Heights", there's even
Shakespeare's play "Henry V"
"Carpe Diem" which is very patriotic,
so yes it is conceptual, I just think they are
brilliant songs, great, just like The Tower.

4)
Once again, you have been working shoulder to shoulder
with Gary Hughes. How is your professional and personal
relationship with him?
We get on like a house on fire, we
get on tremendously well, we are very similar in our
approach to things. I can't believe I've met someone I
get on with as well as I did with Tony who is equally a
brilliant song writer as Tony, Gary pushes me in the
studio which is what I need, we tell each other the truth
about things, and I hope it carries on for a long time to
come.
5) The next
step is headlining the Gods? What can you tell us about
it. Is it going to be a special show?
It's going to be wonderful, I'm headlining the Saturday
night, Emerald Rain will be my band along with Paul
Hodson from Hard Rain, I'll be playing quite a few songs
from Legends and some from The Tower and a few of the old
Magnum favourites and there are a lot of good bands on
too, mate every show is a special show, or it should be !
looking forward to it, it's also the album launch and
there'll be lots of drinking as well !
6) Now that
it's been a while since Magnum dibanded, how do you
rememeber those days?
I remember Magnum with great affection, I was in the band
long enough, I started the band, it was all me and Tony's
fault. We played in front of some great crowds, I
remember when our first album came out, I couldn't
believe we'd got an album out. We toured with some great
bands, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne and Def
Leppard when nobody had heard of them! Just brilliant.
Magnum fans were the best and still are. I've just got so
many wonderful memories, it was a real pity that it came
to and end, but all good things must come to an end, but
I still hold Magnum in my heart, and I believe that is
where Gary writes from.

9) I think "The Tower" was a success in the
melodic rock camp. Are you happy with that cd? Do you how
much has it sold?
I love The Tower I think it's superb, the songs are so
strong, epic numbers, I'm so pleased and happy to be
doing it, it's the start of a whole new relationship and
career, I was pleasantly surprised at how many great
reviews it got, I didn't expect that ! I hope the fans
and the press will enjoy Legends as much.
10) Well, it
has been nice talking to you. Do you want to say
something to your fans in AORLAND?
I'd just like to say I think you are
going to enjoy Legends, I hope you do, I'm very pleased
with it, Vinny Burns has played some great guitar on it,
just as he did on The Tower, we've got Jon Cooksey from
Dante Fox on Drums, and Steve McKenna from Ten on Bass
Guitar they've all done a brilliant job. I hope you can
come and see me at The Gods, or if not I'm going to be in
Europe in February, come and see Legends live, I look
forward to seeing you all and have a happy Christmas and
a brilliant new year.
11) Ok thanks
for your time Bob. I´ll definetly see you at the Gods
and hopefully have a pint together...!!!
Mines a pint ! cheers Roger, see you at The Gods.
