The sound of this 2 CD set is distant, there is too much treble, and you
can't hear bass too well, just a mass of low sound. You can hear Bono's
voice and The Edge's guitar very well. I don't know if I described the
sound quality very well (it isn't so bad) but I don't find it interesting
at all. It is the type of sound you can't amplify too much because then
it becomes very loud mass of sound that you can't listen to. On Disc 2,
Tracks 14, 15, and 17, there is crowd noise everywhere (sometimes you
can barely hear the band). "Stand By Me", with Bruce Springsteen, is
the poorest-quality track on this double CD.
Comments:
These CDs are both very nice picture discs. On each disc, all four
members of U2 are pictured from the 'Achtung Baby' era. Concerning
the songs, all can be found on other CDs. "Even Better Than The Real
Thing" contains drums with Garth from the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards.
Before "Trying To Thow Your Arms Around The World", Bono exclaims,
"(that it is a)...traditional Irish drinking song the Beatles had stolen
from us and we're stealing it back". "Angel Of Harlem" is an acoustic
version beginning with a portion of "Hello Good-bye". Before "Redemption
Song", Bono says that it is the first time that they have ever played the
song live, and then he pleads for the return of his stolen notebook. The
Mirrorball Man's phone call is to George Bush, then President Of The
United States, who is "unavailable". Deluxe color cover.
This is the original pressing on this label.
