Comments:
First off, let me say that I would STRONGLY recommend this set. While
this CD set, on the surface, seems to be a copy of the bootleg ENJOY, I
would have to disagree. I think the sound quality of these tracks is a
bit superior to those found on ENJOY. This is definitely a complete,
excellent set from The Joshua Tree Tour. It is one of the nights that
was recorded for the film 'Rattle And Hum'. In fact, I am led to believe
that it is taken directly from the video outtakes from 'Rattle And Hum'
that have circulated for years. There is a slight hiss throughout the
entire Denver tracks, but it is barely noticeable. The quality of the
recording of the tracks more than compensates. Some would argue that
this is superior to ROCK'S HOTTEST TICKET. I would say that the quality
of this recording is better-sounding than ROCK'S HOTTEST TICKET, but the
slight hiss and the fact that there are gaps (presumably crowd noise)
between some of the tracks (and also in the middle of "October") make
me feel otherwise. This is a bit annoying, but you can definitely live
with it. To hear some of the slight flaws in this recording, one must
don a pair of headphones. This is how I discovered a slight "rolling"
sound present on some of the tracks (typical for bootlegs dubbed from a
videotape). I would describe the transition between tracks as "choppy",
with "stops" and "starts" like that of a "pause" button on a stereo.
The package is alright, except for the fact that this is a Joshua Tree
Tour bootleg, and the cover is from the 'Achtung Baby' era. Also, the
track listing is incorrect for the bonus tracks on Disc 2 (Tracks 7-15).
The ones listed above are correct. This set is most notable for the
tracks "Helter Skelter", "Help", "Silver And Gold", and "Spanish Eyes",
all in rich soundboard stereo. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is the slow
version, much like the one found on "Rattle And Hum", and "With Or
Without You" has no added or extra verses tacked on at the end.
"Mothers Of The Disappeared" is cut off at the end, but all of the
Tempe, Arizona tracks on this set can be found on the bootleg
1-800-U2-LIVE with slightly better sound quality. The tracks from New
York are widely-available on other bootlegs as well. All of the tracks
are from video outtakes from 'Rattle And Hum'. In conclusion, let me
say that this CD set has great sound, and makes a terrific companion
set to ROCK'S HOTTEST TICKET, which I feel is a bit superior. Bono
is very talkative throughout this great performance. While the quality
of this is not like that of 'ZOO EUROPA, it is still a great sounding
bootleg from The Joshua Tree Tour. A wise investment, indeed.
This is the original pressing on this label.
