Comments:
Arguably, the best U2 concert bootleg in terms of sound quality and show
content. The show begins with David Fanning broadcasting from the show
and introducing U2 as "...the band who started in this city 10 years ago
and the band who's dominated the 80's. It's a New Year's party and the
live band is U2!" amidst great fanfare from the cheering audience. A
quick fade which edits out the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" and
Fanning counts down the last seconds until midnight as bells ring and
Bono sings a few lines of "Auld Land Syne" during the intro to "Where
The Streets Have No Name". Although the set list is somewhat routine
for The Lovetown Tour, powerful versions of "Where The Streets have No
Name ", "I Will Follow", "One Tree Hill", and "New Year's Day" are
performed. Many highlights include the first few lines of "All I Want
Is You" perfectly segueing into "Bad". The sound mix for this show is
actually better then the original broadcast of the show which leads to
the possible conclusion that the recording is from the master tape of
the show. The second disc is filled out with the complete "Save The
Yuppies" free concert from San Francisco on November 11, 1987. The
source is an excellent audience tape. I do not know if this particular
recording has been used as the source for other discs such as HAPPY NEW
YEAR, which this package reportedly is identical to in sound and
sources. The 2CD set is enclosed in a double CD jewel case with
somewhat dark photo of the band from 'The Joshua Tree' era on the cover
and a small folded insert illustrated with several color and black and
white photos and a reproduction of the ticket from that night's show
plus the track listing. My only (very minor) quibbles are the tiny
type used for the track listings on the back cover over a color photo
of The Edge which is nearly impossible to read and the over-zealous
indexing of songs. When this set was released in 1992, ICE Magazine
which reports on new CD bootlegs in a column entitled 'Going
Underground' that this bootleg would rate in the "top ten bootleg hall
of fame". There is no label information on this 2CD set but there are
two prints with different CDs. The first issue was with "2 IRISH ON
TOUR" printed on the CDs, and the second print was printed with "GoGo
Rose Garden Here Again" on the CDs.
This is one of two of the original pressings on this label.

Personal Comments:
My version is taken from MP3 files from the internet and they contained the Dublin part only. Does it matter since about everybody must have this show by now.
