CONCERT REVIEW: Shed Seven & The Dandys at Liverpool Royal Court

THE FEELGOOD gig for the Millennium ... The Dandys followed by Shed Seven!

Neither of these bands get the recognition they richly deserve.

Sed Seven's last "Maximum High" album barely got a mention from the music press; now it's The Dandys turn to get shunned by music writers.

Shed Seven like The Dandys so much they invited them back as special guests on tour again.

And The Dandys do a grand job of warming up the audience with sexy kitchen sink pop.

The Leeds group whip the crowd into a frenzy with cool tunes like 'Dirty Weekend' and 'I Want To Be Like You', ending their set with the criminally-underrated 'You Make Me Want To Scream'.

Then it's Shed Seven's turn to wow the packed Liverpool crowd. Classics included 'Bully Boy', 'Where Have You Been Tonight?', 'Standby', 'Going For Gold' and 'Chasing Rainbows'.

Rick Witter is everything a good frontman should be - great voice, great look, great stage presence - the lot, gliding his York band through a stunning set - top class.

Judging from the quality of the new material their next album should be a classic - silky smooth stuff.

Shed Seven come from York, The Dandys come from Leeds so is north-west Yorkshire becoming the new MADchester?

* The Dandys return to Liverpool on May 20 with a gig at the Krazy House. Shed Seven's new album "Let It Ride" is out next month.
