Alanis, Ballard In No Hurry

"I'm very inspired right now. So I'm not worried." -Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette hasn't started recording her new
CD yet, and while it looks like she'll be teaming up
with producer/co-writer Glen Ballard again sometime
in the next two or three months, neither appear to be
in any hurry.

"I write all the time and when it' s time to do a record
I will wake up one morning and it will be done. No
pressure. It'll happen when it's supposed to
happen," Morissette told MTV News.

"I'm very inspired right now. So I'm not worried."

While Morissette fans bide their time waiting for new
material, they can take solace in the 90-minute
home video, "jagged little pill, Live" on sale today.
The video includes performances of all the cuts on
the CD of the same name, many of them with
multiple renditions, plus two new songs. In addition
to the regular stage shows, there's special
appearances including the MTV Video Awards, plus
interviews and backstage footage of Morissette and
her then-band.
If the video isn't enough, there's two new 200+ page
books on the market. Now out in Morissette's home
country of Canada and due for release in the U.S.
later this year is "You Oughta Know," by Paul
Cantin. Currently on sale in both countries is "Ironic"
by Barry Grills.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Glen Ballard
confirms the producer's been meeting with the singer
but say the pair is still a ways away from recording.
Neither party appear to be chomping at the bit as
Ballard's people say he has a full plate of his own
right now. Ballard has just started a new record label
partnered with Capitol, he's building new offices as
well as a recording studio. The label, Java Records,
has already signed at least two artists including
Terrance Trent D'Arby and Brendan Lynch, and he
has a fulltime A&R rep, Amos Newman, out looking
for new talent.

Ballard is also working with fellow producer David
Foster and Pacific Northwest communications
magnate John McCaw (who also owns the NHL
Canucks and NBA Grizzlies) on a movie production
company developing a film tentatively called "King of
Clubs."
